  The instructors and the staff as well as the patrons are very friendly! Everyone gets to know and connect with each other! The aqua zumba and the aqua hit classes are awesome!

  We love our YMCA! Very friendly culture! Love the updated weight room. Mainly because they created a smaller weight room downstairs with the old equipment. This is where I go as I find it less intimidating because I can lift in there alone most of the time. Has been known for having kind of a competitive Pickleball group in attendance. They seem to be working on that piece. I always play on the "beginner" side any everyone has always been incredibly helpful and encouraging.

  It's a great place to find activities for everyone in a family of 5 with three young boys --- they get to try some new things while getting some exercise. I can also try to squeeze in a walk or work out while they are at child watch and/or their activities. I also like the community vibe at the Lakewood YMCA.

  The Lakewood Y is my happy place! I love doing the water aerobics classes and Ann is my favorite instructor, she is a fun lady and plays good music! All the instructors are nice and great to work with. I have lost over 100 lbs in 12 months doing low carb and water aerobics. I love having the Y as part of my weight loss journey! Just be careful in the pool area and don’t step on the black instructor mat, it’s slippery if you walk on it with wet bare feet. I slipped and fell on it and got injured. I have seen the instructor slip and fall on it during water aerobics when she was teaching class barefoot and her feet were wet. Your feet will be wet after exiting the pool. The instructor mat is supposed to be nonslip but it is in fact very slippery when walked on with wet bare feet. Wear aqua shoes!

  Great gym with a really nice atmosphere. The staff and overall environment make it a place I enjoy coming to. The main thing is timing your workout. It’s definitely better if you can come outside of peak hours or before the kids get out of school, because space gets pretty limited fast. One thing I’d also like to see improved is the timing of promotional YMCA videos being filmed. Doing that during peak hours makes an already crowded space feel even tighter. Also, the locker room could use more frequent cleaning and sanitizing throughout the day, especially during busy hours. Overall still a great family gym, just a few things that could make the experience even better.
