- AAAndreaJun 10, 20261.0I want to be clear that I am reviewing this specific YMCA location, not the YMCA organization as a whole. Two weeks ago, I was at the playground across the street with my mother, my 3-year-old son, and my 1-year-old daughter. I briefly left to run an errand at Costco with my daughter and accidentally forgot to leave my YMCA membership card with my mom. While I was gone my son urgently needed to use the restroom and the playground restrooms were flooded. My mother took him to this YMCA and asked if they could quickly use the bathroom. Unfortunately, the staff member at the front desk refused to let them in without proof of membership. As a result, my 3-year-old son ended up wetting his pants. I understand that facilities are generally reserved for members, and I respect that policies exist for a reason. However, this is supposed to be a family-friendly community organization. I find it very disappointing that no exception was made for a toddler having a genuine bathroom emergency, especially when accompanied by a 60-year-old grandmother simply asking to help him use the restroom. The lack of compassion shown in that moment was enough for me to cancel my membership. Policies matter, but so does common sense and basic kindness.
