  Heron's Key has been our home since May of 2020. Yes, we moved in during Covid, which was a challenge! We have found Heron's Key to be a welcoming, inclusive community of active, engaged people who care and support about one another while continuing efforts to make the world a better place. Deciding to move to Heron's Key was indeed a positive decision, and we are grateful for each day in this vibrant, supportive community.

  Joining the beautiful community at Heron’s Key in Gig Harbor has been the most consequential decision we have made in our years post leaving the working world. Our experience has been enriching in so many ways….interacting with Residents & Staff that bring varied rich backgrounds to share, display of kindness to others consistently and sincere dedication to volunteer time & talents to programs, events and gatherings to nurture forward growth of this unique Community. As a Type A CCRC, this steadfast growing Community is a definite “Top 10 Star Choice” to seriously consider. If we were to make our decision again, we would again turn to Heron’s Key (which is part of Emerald Communities). Each day the dedicated Leadership & Staff enrich the life of each Resident for which we say “Thank you”!

  My husband and I moved to Herons Key almost 7 years ago from Vermont so we could be closer to our daughter and son-in-law who live in Portland. We moved sooner than we'd anticipated once we learned that the kind of apartment we wanted was available right away. We have been grateful ever since that we moved when we were in our mid 70's. We've also been grateful every day that we selected Herons Key. Even though we haven't had to personally utilize the availability of all levels of living including higher levels of nursing care, the peace of mind it gives us is invaluable. We also enjoy being able to easily visit friends who have had to transition from independent living to higher levels of care. We feel the welcoming and supportive energy of Herons Key every day in so many ways. Our kids love to come for visits because they feel the same energy embracing us as well as them. There's never a lack of diverse activities to engage in if that's what we want to do. Once we discovered how delicious and economical the food is, I retired from cooking and we've never regretted that decision. We end each day expressing our gratitude for our decision to make Heron's Key our home for this unique chapter of our lives.
