If you have a loved one with any type of memory issues, do NOT move them into Patriots Landing in DuPont, WA. They say they provide memory care services. My aunt lived there for 4 years. When she began to show some of the aggressive side of dementia, they provided a 2 step care plan. 1. Sit down and talk to her about how it is not OK to attempt to kick the staff. At that time, my aunt's short term memory was 2 minutes. "Talking" was no solution at all. Step 2 of the plan: "If it happens again, we will call the police." Neither of these steps should EVER be part of a care plan for someone diagnosed with any form of dementia. Put your loved one somewhere that knows how to deal with ALL stages of dementia.

I was yelled at by the Director and belittled in front of my client. For a private matter I was not authorized to know, she continued to berate me telling me “l knew better” when in fact I never was informed. I tried to tell her that and asked her to calm down but continued to be accusatory and treated me as if I amounted to zero. I have lost face and any honor I may have had toward the leadership who should have Handled this issue along with any and all issues at her level of responsibility with tact, dignity and understanding.

Where do I begin? I toured and submitted an application for my grandmother back in May for the memory care unit, which included a $2500 deposit "to hold her spot", and thought the process of getting her moved in would be relatively smooth. It wasn't. I spent weeks trying to get their nurse to come out and meet my grandmother, and they never did. Supposedly they needed medication information from her PCP, which he sent repeatedly to them. Eventually, my grandmother's condition deteriorated so much she had to be hospitalized, then eventually transferred to skilled nursing. Nurse still didn't want to come meet her, and recommended she go to a geropsych ward. Okay, fine. We rescinded her application, and asked for her deposit back. It's AUGUST, and they STILL haven't sent back my grandmother's deposit, and have stopped responding entirely to my messages! Are they really that hard up for money that they need to steal from a 94-year-old grandmother?? Avoid this place.
