Promoting and protecting the natural resources, rural economy, history and beauty of the Virginia Piedmont since 1972. Locally focused and community-supported.
PEC covers a nine-county region ranging from Loudoun in northern Virginia to Albemarle County/Charlottesville in the south. We are also engaged at the state-wide, regional and national levels on issues that impact our work in the Piedmont.
PEC staff engage, educate and empower residents around a host of different issues including land conservation and good land use planning, local food and sustainable agriculture, public access to parks, trails and open space, water quality and wildlife habitat protection. And we do so through on-the-ground projects, advocacy, and outreach.
