My child recently suffered a serious injury at Kindercare that required stitches to her forehead. While accidents can happen in any childcare setting, what concerns me is that this incident appears to be part of a larger pattern of safety issues rather than an isolated event. According to the information provided to me, my child was injured during an activity involving bubbles. What I was told by the supervisor, vs what was written on the incident report were egregiously different. The circumstances surrounding the incident raise serious questions about supervision and whether the environment was being properly monitored at the time. No parent expects every scrape or bump to be prevented, but we do expect children to be supervised closely enough to avoid preventable injuries that result in emergency medical treatment. Unfortunately, this was not our first safety concern. My child has been involved in multiple incidents requiring incident reports, including being bitten by a child who had reportedly bitten multiple other children. While I understand that challenging behaviors can occur in group childcare settings, repeated incidents involving the same child suggest that adequate intervention and supervision measures may not have been in place. Even more concerning is that, after speaking with other parents, I learned that my child's injury was reportedly the third incident involving significant bleeding within a matter of weeks. This raises concerns about whether there are broader supervision, staffing, or safety issues affecting the center. I also expressed my concerns to an individual responsible for oversight and compliance. Rather than addressing the seriousness of the situation, I was told that "things happen" and that "heads tend to bleed a lot." While this may be factually true, it completely misses the point. Parents are not concerned about how much a head wound bleeds; we are concerned about why these injuries are occurring and whether reasonable steps are being taken to prevent them. I am particularly concerned about staffing levels and supervision. There have been numerous occasions where parents have observed classrooms appearing understaffed or stretched thin. Even when staffing ratios may technically be met, the level of active supervision does not always appear sufficient. In my child's case, it appears that the adults responsible for supervision were distracted or otherwise unable to prevent an injury serious enough to require stitches. The purpose of this review is not simply to complain about one unfortunate accident. It is to raise concerns about what appears to be a pattern of preventable incidents, inadequate supervision, repeated injuries, and a culture that minimizes legitimate parent concerns instead of addressing them. Parents trust childcare providers with their children's safety every day. That trust is earned through accountability, transparency, and a demonstrated commitment to preventing avoidable harm. Based on our experience, I do not currently feel confident that those standards are being met. I hope Kindercare leadership will thoroughly review the circumstances surrounding these incidents, evaluate staffing and supervision practices, and take meaningful steps to ensure that no other child experiences what ours did.

We’ve had a really positive experience with KinderCare. The teachers are caring, patient, and truly attentive to each child’s needs. My daughter feels safe, happy, and excited to go every day, which means everything to us as parents. It’s been a great place for my daughter to learn, grow, and build confidence. I’m very grateful for all the support and kindness they show every day!

My husband and I received custody of my grandson when he was 2 months old. I had a full time job and needed to find daycare for him. I went to KinderCare without an appointment. Kristina greeted me warmly. She answered all my questions and gave me a tour of the center. I explained our situation to her. She went above and beyond her duty to help me in every way. That was 2 years ago. The staff treats my grandson like he is their own. He is greeted at the door by a provider who has a smile on her face and is very kind. He is greeted by name by the other staff members as he passes them. He has dietary issues and the center makes sure he does not eat or drink anything he shouldn’t have. He is always clean when we pick him up. I would recommend this center to anybody that is looking for a wonderful place to leave your child while you are at work.
