Our diabetic son attended this daycare as they promoted being diabetic trained to VCU endocrinology. THIS IS A LIE! They are not trained and are in fact SEVERELY understaffed to care for diabetics. I disenrolled him due to staffing and lack of communication from admin. When he started in December I was assured that the one person trained wouldn’t be an issue dealing with his diabetic needs, it soon showed that was false as at first she was feeding him before taking his sugar which was making his sugar spike drastically, then she was very adamant about leaving at 4. Some days being so overwhelmed she’d leave before checking his sugar or administering his insulin causing his sugars to elevate before I could arrive at the center to get him. When bringing this to Brittani’s attention before knowing all that was going on she decided to say “maybe the center wouldn’t be a good fit” before getting more information on the situation, then apologizing to me soon after. After getting to know some of the staff it was apparent that their turn times were quick as dealing with admin was difficult for most of the staff not wanting to deal with Brittani. I also noticed the police presence twice due to the grade school teacher having tantrums and having Mary Washington security call the police, one time during nap time as the toddlers were awoken. (Yes he is still employed at the center) soon after this my son stopped going as the one person caring for him went on leave for a medical issue. I spent over a month getting the runaround, as the center still marked my son as attending and continued billing me, and collected over 1000 dollars from DSS. They even took the registration fee for the fall and sent multiple emails explaining how I wasn’t billed … I had to get proof from my case worker to contradict their lies and show they did in fact bill AND take the registration fee for the fall. They then had to issue a refund. I took my concerns to the district leader before taking him out and that did no good! She accused me of (not feeling right) not sure what that meant as I was being truthful as to everything I dealt with in the center and had documentation to back it all up. We didn’t make it that far as I disenrolled him immediately after speaking with her, she was right, dealing with that center NO LONGER FELT RIGHT mainly because of her and Brittani. Clearly the issues will never get better, as she enables the admins poor communication and lack of training. The only upside about this center is Ms. Kayla in the toddler room, she was super patient and sweet with my son ready to be trained to care for him (admin refused to train her and his other teacher) Ms. Toy was also a blessing, she works in the baby room and I was excited to have her care for my baby on the way! As for the rest, I have nothing else to say. If your child is a diabetic and or needs more care and attention please steer clear of this center! It’s no transparency, and a lot of the teachers are miserable due to admin. I’m sure the kids are the only thing that keeps them going! This center will be a better place once new administration is hired, and proper training is given. Again DO NOT TAKE YOUR DIABETIC CHILD HERE. You will have nothing but issues.
