I was referred to this daycare by a friend and was really looking forward to bringing my kids here. I scheduled a tour on Friday for Monday, but when we arrived, there was no one there to meet us. We waited outside for over 10 minutes before someone finally came to show us around.
We actually really liked the daycare, so I told her I would call the same day to confirm whether my kids would be attending. I did, and I was told I would receive a call back that same day. Nothing.
The next day, still nothing. On the third day, I called more than three times and was repeatedly told someone would call me back. No one ever did. I finally called again about an hour before closing, only to be told that their infant spot was already full.
This was extremely frustrating, especially after being told to wait for a call for three days. I have to return to work next week, and because I was waiting for their response, I lost valuable time that I could have spent looking into other childcare options.
I understand that spaces fill up, but the lack of communication and professionalism was very disappointing. A simple phone call could have saved me several days. I would not recommend a daycare that handles communication with families this way.

It was our son’s last day at Kindercare Franconia Road and to say it was an emotional day is an understatement. My son started at this center 2.5 years ago at only 3 months old. Like every first time mom, I was anxious about leaving my baby with strangers but that was short-lived. The infant teachers, Ms Rozita and Ms Aaliyah, were wonderful, caring, and invested in my son even at such a young age. For example, I remember walking in one day to find Ms Rozita doing a sensory session with feathers with the babies and Ms Aaliyah seemed to always be on the ground working with the infants during tummy time.
When my son was starting to walk, he transitioned to Infant B in Ms Carmen’s room where he learned to be more stable, and learned to eat and nap independently. Ms Carmen always went out of her way to give us an update on his progress for things like learning to eat with utensils, drinking out of an open cup, sign language, first words, etc.
At 18 months, he moved into the Two’s classroom with Ms Mimi where his development accelerated: he learned to talk, play with friends, dance, color, sing, and so much more! Ms Mimi gave our son so much love and attention, especially as he started to navigate the first big emotions as a two year-old. Every morning he would ask to go to school to “see Ms Mimi”. As a working mother, it helps to know your child is so cared for that they wake up excited to go to school to see their teacher.
During our final few months at the school, our son moved up to Ms Tiya’s and Ms Linda’s classroom where he established friendships, learned the foundations of potty training, the ABC’s, counting to 20 in English and Spanish, reading independently, imaginative play, etc. Ms Linda and Ms Tiya have played a huge role in helping our son develop into a sweet and thoughtful little boy.
Lastly, the center had quite a bit of turn over with directors over our tenure but there was very little impact to our son’s learning environment due to the consistency with the teachers and Ms Denise stepping up as assistant Director. More recently, Ms Heidy joined as the director and she has made an immediate impact to how the center was being run day to day. She made improvements and created efficiencies that were desperately needed.
Unfortunately, our military station has come to an end and we are moving to a different state so we had to say our goodbyes to everyone at Kindercare Franconia Road. Thank you to all the teachers who have made an impact to our son’s early childhood development. We will sorely miss you!
Love,

This daycare welcomed my son since he turned 16 month, and since then, we are doing full time there for almost 1.5 years. We cannot ask for more! Attentive staff and friendly environment made this place enjoyable for my child. First, transition time didn’t take too long- only a week or so. Second, the children are happy including my child, they play and learn, socializing and eat well there. I can see photos of my child learning every day on the app used exclusively by Kindercare’s parents. Leaving my son at the daycare every morning gives me a great piece of mind that his needs are met, he is taken care of and he is safe. Kudos to all Teachers and management including Ms. Buffy and Ms. Andrea!!
Upon moving to Northern Virginia last year, we began the search for a full-time daycare. One of our friends recommended KinderCare at Gum Street. Over the past year, we have been very pleased with our daughter's care and learning in the Fours classroom. She is excited to attend every day (as a parent, that is more than I could've wished for). The additional learning opportunities of phonics, music, cooking and STEM with Ms. Denise are phenomenal. Ms. Buffy and Ms. Ronna foster an environment filled with love, learning and laughter.

Great daycare center! Our daughter has been at the center for 4 years and she's had fantastic care. Staff are great with the kids. Highly recommend. For those concerned about COVID-19 procedures, our daughter has been back since early June 2020 and the center director and staff are doing an excellent job keeping kids safe. Temperatures are taken upon arrival, no parents are allowed in classrooms, and kids are being distanced when possible.
