Awaken Church started in 2005 in San Diego when our lead pastors Jurgen and Leanne Matthesius moved their small family away from friends, family, and familiarity to plant a church on the other side of the world from all they knew. With multiple campuses in San Diego, the church expanded in 2018 and merged with what was formerly known as City Church Utah to create the Awaken Church Salt Lake City Campus.
We focus on showing everyone the love, redemption, and salvation of Jesus Christ by caring passionately about people and connecting them to the one true God.
