This isn't the church for you if you believe that all people are equal. This church teaches that God gives you darker skin as a result of wickedness (as taught in the Book of Mormon and Pearl of Great Price). People of color weren't allowed in temples, to pray for congregations, or hold priesthood office until almost 1980.
It also puts women on a golden pedestal - they heap praises upon women yet give them no legitimate authority or responsibility beyond teaching other women and children. I know Mormon women who have been kicked out for merely talking about ways they could feel more equal in church. This church has a long and storied history of excommunicating women who speak out about the inequality. If you are remotely feminist and still choose to attend, don't wear pants.
Likewise, if you are LGBTQ, there is a great deal of hostility towards marriage equality and living authentically as a member of this community. The LDS church took the most prominent role in opposing marriage equality, and many members in California and Utah were pressured into political activism in preventing gay marriage. While an LGBTQ guest or member may be given encouraging words of invitation, the only acceptable way to live as a gay Mormon is celibate.
