I cannot thank the team at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rowlett enough for their incredible compassion, professionalism, and support during such a difficult time. From the moment we first reached out, their staff handled every detail with extreme grace, dignity, and attention to detail.
The facility itself is immaculate, peaceful, and warm, offering a very comforting environment for family and friends to gather and honor our loved one. The staff truly went above and beyond to ensure our family's wishes were met and made a stressful process feel seamless and manageable.
I would whole-heartedly recommend Rest Haven Funeral Home to anyone looking for thoughtful, high-quality, and respectful care for their loved ones.

Overall, Rest Haven handled our daughter’s cremation process well and were extremely diligent in seeing that her death certificate was signed by the physician at the hospital.
However, the customer service we received was less than exemplary. As the funeral director was filling out the information for the death certificate, he just started reading off the fields he needed to fill in without providing any context. He did not mention our loss at all; it was very procedural. I also noticed he never asked for our daughter’s name. After he finished filling out the form, I asked to see it to review the information. He said he would bring a print version so we could verify the details.
After nearly 30 minutes had passed, he returns and hands over the printed form. I immediately noticed information was incorrect, including our daughter’s name. When I pointed that out, he said the hospital gave him the wrong information. They didn’t, because I could see the info from where I was sitting. Once I said that the information was correct from the hospital and showed him where our daughter’s name was listed, he said something to the effect of “well I wish you had told me that before I filled it all out”, even though I had asked to see the form before it was typed up. Once that was corrected, we noticed our daughter’s name was spelled wrong on another form, requiring another correction to be made.
Placing the blame on parents grieving the loss of their daughter born at 20 weeks for your inattention to detail is extremely unprofessional and lacks compassion. I was very disappointed in this experience.

✓ Mother's Name
✓ Social Security Number
✓ Veteran's Discharge or Claim Number
✓ Education

Contact your clergy. Decide on time and place of funeral or memorial service. This can be done at the funeral home.

Make a list of immediate family, close friends and employer or business colleagues. Notify each by phone.
Decide on appropriate memorial to which gifts may be made (church, hospice, library, charity or school).
Gather obituary information you want to include such as age, place of birth, cause of death, occupation, college degrees, memberships held, military service , outstanding work, list of survivors in immediate family. Include time and place of services. The funeral home will normally write article and submit to newspapers (newspaper will accept picture and they will be returned intact).
Arrange for members of family or close friends to take turns answering door or phone, keeping careful record of calls. If Social Security checks are automatic deposit, notify the bank of the death.
When I call, will someone come right away?
If you request immediate assistance, yes. If the family wishes to spend a short time with the deceased to say good-bye, that’s perfectly acceptable. Your funeral director will come when your time is right.
Should I choose Burial or Cremation?
Burial in a casket is the most common method of disposing of remains in the United States, although entombment also occurs. Cremation is increasingly selected because it can be less expensive and allows for the memorial service to be held at a more convenient time in the future when relatives and friends can come together.
A funeral service followed by cremation need not be any different from a funeral service followed by a burial. Usually, cremated remains are placed in urn before being committed to a final resting place. The urn may be buried, placed in an indoor or outdoor mausoleum or columbarium, or interred in a special urn garden that many cemeteries provide for cremated remains. The remains may also be scattered, according to state law.
What is the purpose of embalming?
Embalming sanitizes and preserves the body. Embalming makes it possible to lengthen the time between death and the final disposition, allowing family members time to arrange and participate in the type of service most comforting to them.
What services does Rest Haven Funeral Home provide?

How should I proceed when a death occurs?
You should coordinate with the funeral home, provide vital information like birthplace and Social Security Number, contact clergy, decide on funeral details, notify acquaintances, prepare obituary information, and arrange support for family communications. The funeral home assists with these steps and orders death certificates.
Will someone come immediately when I call Rest Haven?
If you request immediate assistance, a funeral director will come promptly. Families may also choose to spend time saying good-bye before the director arrives.
Should I choose burial or cremation?
Burial in a casket is common, but cremation is chosen for cost and scheduling flexibility. Cremated remains can be kept in an urn, buried, placed in a mausoleum, or scattered according to state law.
