I 100% recommend Plano Birthplace! Everyone is super friendly and loving! From the office staff, interns and Lindsay and Jeannine- I can’t recommend them enough! I used to live in Plano which is why I chose to have my first with them but moved an hour and half away and I continued to make that drive for my second one because they are so worth it! They have made my pregnancy and baby journey so lovely! I love my Plano Birthplace family! And their facility is so gorgeous!

I can’t express how thankful I am for finding Plano Birthplace. This is exactly how labor and delivery should feel, natural, respectful, and empowering. It’s so much more affordable than the high costs of hospitals and insurance, and the quality of care is simply unmatched. Instead of being treated like just another patient, it’s like being surrounded by family in a cozy, homelike space. The birthing suites are gorgeous and inviting, far from any sterile hospital feel, and no one pushes or bullies you into shots, interventions, or anything you don’t want, you’re fully in control of your experience.
Dear Jeannine and Lindsay, thank you from the depths of my heart for your unwavering support and expert guidance throughout my pregnancy. You are truly exceptional midwives, and I feel so fortunate to have had you by my side on this beautiful journey. Lindsay, you were there for the birth, and it was the easiest, fastest, and most beautiful experience I’ve ever had. You’re a superstar!
With love and endless gratitude, Svetlana

Oh what a blessing it was to be able to experience my redemption birth at Plano Birthplace. Jeanine took me in at 37 weeks pregnant after having a gut feeling to follow my prayers for a natural birth. The whole experience was better than I could have imagined and I wish I could have had all my births there! Highly recommend.

It's taken me a long time to write this review because I didn't feel that I could do justice to what a wonderful, amazing place Plano Birthplace is. I have nothing but positive things to say about PBP and HIGHLY recommend them for anyone seeking evidence-based care.
Lindsay and Jeannine accepted me as a patient late in my second trimester when my previous OBGYN was not aligned with my birth plan and had made some comments that raised red flags. They were a calming force in a pregnancy riddled with change, COVID fears, and stress of the unknown (as a first-time mom). They attended to me and my baby's physical needs, but also made sure that I doing well from an emotional/psychological aspect too.
Although my ideal birth plan did not go as hoped and I ended up being transferred to the hospital to deliver, I felt empowered and cared for the entire way. When I had complications weeks after delivery and had to see their collaborating physician, Dr. Fogwell, communication between providers was seamless and he was also incredibly caring and kind.
With PBP, you're not just another patient or number, you're genuinely cared for, listened to, and supported. I'm so glad that they also provide Well Woman Care, so that I can continue to see them outside of pregnancy too.
A birth center is a comforting environment that provides comprehensive care for healthy individuals with uncomplicated pregnancies. It offers prenatal, birthing, postpartum, and newborn care, as well as women's health services. Birth centers follow the midwifery model of care and are integrated into the healthcare system. They prioritize prevention, sensitivity, safety, appropriate medical intervention, and cost-effectiveness.
Do you offer water births?
Yes, we provide excellent birthing tubs for labor and delivery. Water immersion during labor has been shown to offer numerous benefits, including pain reduction, enhanced relaxation, and improved mobility for the laboring mother.
What do you have to help with labor pain?
Our midwives are experienced in natural childbirth techniques and offer various pain management methods. These include hydrotherapy, positioning, massage, counter-pressure, herbal remedies, and supportive encouragement. We also provide inhaled nitrous oxide, which many find helpful. It's important to note that we do not offer intravenous pain medication or epidurals.
Do you take insurance?
We are currently in-network with CIGNA. For all other insurance companies, we are considered an out-of-network provider. However, we are happy to file claims with your insurance company on your behalf.
Is the birth center available for everyone to give birth?
Our birth center caters to individuals with low-risk pregnancies. We advocate for overall pregnancy health. The definition of low-risk versus high-risk can vary depending on individual circumstances. Generally, if you're in good health without significant chronic conditions and expecting a single baby, you're likely eligible for birth center care. Factors such as conception method and age don't automatically classify you as high risk. If you have any doubts, we encourage you to schedule a complimentary consultation with our staff to discuss your specific situation.
What happens if my pregnancy becomes high-risk?
If a mother's pregnancy becomes too high-risk for a birth center delivery, we continue to provide care with her midwife in a hospital setting. Plano Birthplace is one of the few birth centers in the DFW area where our midwives have hospital privileges. We are committed to continuing care for all our clients, even if a change in birth setting becomes necessary.
What if there is an emergency?
Our midwives are extensively trained to recognize potential early signs of complications throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. Both mother and baby are closely monitored for any indications of complications. If early signs appear, your midwife will efficiently coordinate a transfer to the nearest appropriate hospital for further evaluation and care. Our location is less than two miles from a hospital.
When should I begin care at the PBP?
Most of our clients opt to complete their entire prenatal care with us, starting with a pregnancy confirmation visit typically between eight to 12 weeks. While some clients join us later in the first or second trimester, we generally cannot accommodate new clients after the 28th week of pregnancy.
Do you offer home birth?
Yes, Plano Birthplace provides home birth services. We bring portable equipment and necessary supplies to your residence. We also offer guidance to help you prepare your home birth space, ensuring a comfortable and supported birthing experience.
How soon can I go home after giving birth at a birth center?
After a birth at Plano Birthplace, families typically return home three to six hours post-birth, provided both mother and baby are healthy. There are specific criteria that must be met before discharge. In the first two hours after birth, skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby is encouraged. The newborn exam is conducted about two hours post-birth. Often, the mother will nurse her baby several times, shower, and have a high-protein meal before leaving. Once home, we recommend parents spend the first 48 hours in close skin-to-skin contact with their newborn.
