What is the “Dilemma Book Method”?
The Dilemma Book Method is a proprietary healing method developed by Dr. Cathy Kirkland. It is integrated in the counseling process from day one as a tool to help clients identify, face, and release emotional pain.
Do you use a faith-based approach?
Yes. Our counseling is biblically informed and we aim to integrate Christian values, spiritual principles, and faith-based guidance alongside psychological methods. Our counselors are certified pastoral counselors or Christian counseling professionals.
Do you accept insurance?
No, we are an out-of-network provider. We no longer offer superbills for insurance reimbursement or a sliding scale option. However, we can provide a superbill for tax reporting purposes under medical care expenses. As a private pay practice, we are able to offer complete and confidential care tailored to your needs.

What can I expect in my first counseling session?
In your first session, you'll meet with a counselor who will:
Allow you to share your story, struggles, and goals
Ask questions to gather background, emotional history, faith or belief perspectives
Introduce the Dilemma Book Method (if applicable)
Develop a working plan or roadmap for upcoming sessions
Address confidentiality, session logistics, fees, and scheduling
How long are counseling sessions, and how often should I attend?
Generally, sessions last 50 to 60 minutes. The frequency depends on your needs — for example, weekly or biweekly initially — then may taper as growth is made. Your counselor will recommend what is best for you.
Is everything I share confidential?
Yes. Counselors adhere to professional standards of confidentiality. We will not disclose your information except in legally or ethically required situations (e.g. mandated reporting of abuse, threat of harm to self or others). As professionals, we believe confidentiality applies to personal medical decisions. That's why Beautifully Broken will never ask about, and will never disclose, any medical choices or issues—under any circumstances. We care for our clients and will never place mandates on our staff or clients.
