- PDPatti DowneyFeb 21, 20245.0I can't speak highly enough of the care we received from The Key. We had secured them to take care of my beloved mother-in-law in her assisted living facility, but just before they started, mom took a fall, landed in the hospital for a couple of weeks, rehab for two months and ultimately in the nursing home where she spent her last days. The Key remained on standby, and Kristen (the manager) was in touch with me multiple times a week and even visited mom in the hospital and rehab, keeping up-to-speed on everything. And this was before they even started care! When mom went to the nursing home, we hired The Key for 24/7 care. They sent us Stephanie for the 12-hour day shift and we just couldn't have been more blessed. Stephanie looked after mom as if she were her own family. She spoke softly to her, gently dabbed lotion on her dry spots, caressed her face and hair, made sure she was warm, grabbing the nurse for meds if mom was in pain, checked her diaper every half hour so she was always dry. She got her Desitin so she didn't chafe, powder for underbody areas where she'd noticed a slight rash and ensured she had a beautiful sponge bath and change of gown before we arrived each morning. Multiple times we had told Stephanie to please step out for lunch or take a break, but she refused. I have never seen such a warm, caring, kind and attentive person in my life. And we have had other care givers from other agencies. This was nothing in comparison. We lost mom on February 5, but when we look back, we just feel SO blessed that she went out knowing that she was safe, loved, taken care of and not alone. Stephanie became like family to us and she remains in our prayers every night because she truly made a difference to our family and more importantly, to mom in her final days. And Kristen still reaches out to see how we are doing. It was just the best choice in the world to go with The Key. And I would highly recommend them to take care of anyone that you love. And if you guys are reading this, Kristen and Stephanie, thank you SO very much. You will forever remain in our hearts and prayers.
