Washington Memorial Chapel is an active and vibrant parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania. We are unique parish in that we are also a national shrine to George Washington and the heroes of the Valley Forge encampment (Dec 1777 - June 1778). It can be said that Valley Forge is the turning point in the American Revolution. In 1904, President Theodore Roosevelt gave his Valley Forge address here where he called the nation to emulate the spirit of Valley Forge embracing the virtue of perseverance in the "teeth of difficulty." We hope you visit us soon! The Chapel is an architectural gem that tells the story of the American Revolution - a candle in the wilderness who continues to embrace the virtues of "God and Country.
