Moved to Lebanon and this is my designated Ward-based on residence location. The building is lovely. Judgement abounds…though that isn’t a shock. Based on my recent personal experience, I would ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMEND any person join this Ward/Church. As a member myself, I was recently (April 2026) struggling with some very distressing circumstances (recently widowed and facing Foreclosure and losing EVERYTHING). I emailed both my Bishop and the Relief Society President. I requested the Relief Society President include in the emails regularly sent out to ward members, that I had various items for sale. This is commonly done in every ward I have been in. The Relief Society President did call me shortly after receiving the email letting me know she would do so. Shortly after that call I received an email response from her in which she wrote, after some thought she wouldn’t do that. She wrote that it would jeopardize the church’s tax status if “the church” were to let people in the ward know I had some items for sale. This “concern” is wholly preposterous. I didn’t ask for “the church” to buy anything from me, only to let ward members know I had some items for sale. (As a recent widow, with only my daughter and myself in the home, I felt it a better option for us-not to have to increase worry about our safety-having unknown and potentially dangerous people come to my home.) Since the sending of that first email to the Bishop, he has NOT RESPONDED TO THE EMAIL, NOT REACHED OUT OVER THE PHONE, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. 100% NOTHING. This lack of basic care/kindness is unmistakably, and undeniably, proof that the church fundamentally does NOT PRACTICE CHRISTIANITY. This experience has truly cleared up MANY misconceptions about the church I joined. The “Christian” belief of: caring for the widow and the orphan, IS NOT OF ANY IMPORTANCE TO THIS WARD AND THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST Of LATTER-DAY SAINTS AS A WHOLE. Doctrine and Covenants 83 Deuteronomy 10:18 Deuteronomy 14:29 Deuteronomy 24:19-21 Isaiah 10:1-2 2 Nephi 20:1-2 Malachi 3:5 3 Nephi 24:5 Mormon 8:40 Exodus 22:22 Job 22:9 Job 31:16 Zechariah 7:10 James 1:27 Psalm 68 1 Timothy 5:1-16 -Tax status is the overwhelming concern in this Ward (CHURCH)…after the church LIED TO THE US GOVERNMENT ABOUT ITS MONEY AND WAS FINED MILLIONS FOR IT. -Tax status is the concern…when the church has 300+ BILLION DOLLARS IN ITS COFFERS. -Tax status is the concern…after the church HIDES MONEY FROM THE MEMBERS, PURCHASING PROPERTIES THROUGH SHELL COMPANIES-BECAUSE MEMBERS WOULD STOP TITHING IF THEY KNEW THE CHURCH WAS HOARDING MONEY AND LYING ABOUT IT. ($300 BILLION+!) -Tax status is the concern…the ongoing covering up of MEN IN THE CHURCH SEXUALLY ABUSING CHILDREN. Refusal of the church to pay the judgements against it for the ongoing abuse of boys in scouts. I would be writing non-stop for DAYS if I listed everything. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints should NOT be labeled as “Christian” because it does NOT choose to practice actual Christianity. Based solely on my own personal lived experience, Lebanon Oregon Pioneer Ward “Leadership” 100% does NOT follow the teachings of Christ-at least not the teachings I read about in the Holy Books. I continue to attend. I will continue to attend. My faith is in Jesus, NOT in the people “leading” the church/ward.
