We sent our daughter here for 18 months. We have had experience with multiple other daycares in the neighborhood including Goddard and The Learning Experience. KinderCare stands out for:
1) extremely communicative and loving teachers (shout out to Arlene, Laura, Genesis, Jessy, Denise, Melanie, Kaleah, Tiara in particular). I was able to engage in regular conversations about sleeping, solids, development etc with her classroom teachers, who were very receptive, worked to implement changes, and communicated back to us how things were going and their suggestions for what we try next. At other centers, it felt difficult to have ongoing conversations and changes actually implemented. Also, the entire center knew my daughter’s name, and teachers across multiple classrooms were cheering on her tummy time, crawling, and first steps.
2) Very warm center environment across all levels, with present and engaged leadership. The center leaders greet every family as they walk in and know the names of parents and siblings. They support flexible family needs eg timeline to change classrooms, drop in days, etc. There appears to be a very supportive relationship between leaders and teachers. This was palpably not the case at other daycares we attended, where we witnessed conflict and there it seemed to have an upstairs/downstairs vibe that likely contributed to frequent staff turnover — I never saw anything similar at Kindercare.
3) Time outside. I’m sure this varies by teacher preference and staff ratios, but particularly for infant and young toddler rooms, our daughter at Kindercare was outside almost every day, whereas our son at other centers was not.
4) Extended hours - essential for our family.
5) Facility with high ceilings, in some rooms big windows (an issue in most daycares as they need to be ground floor for fire safety).
Minor issues we had included: 1) early delay in email communication with leadership (now changed) as we enrolled — was not an issue after our first weeks there; 2) occasional understaffing prompting a request for families who were able to volunteer to keep their child home for the day and be reimbursed for the day — understaffing and staff turnover has been ubiquitous for us at all daycare centers, but we actually found there to be more stability in teachers at KinderCare compared to other places we were. I think the daycare industry is extremely challenging for staffing based on salaries, benefits etc unless it is an established preschool that happens to have an infant/toddler program, in which case we found hours to be typically shorter (difficult when parents are working) and tuition to be much much higher. Our teachers who left Kindercare had been there for multiple years and were growing their careers or transitioning to family life, not moving to a different daycare.
KinderCare was our best experience of the multiple daycares we attended over the past five years, and I would send an infant and toddler here over the others. We are very grateful to the staff there for their love and support of our family!

Sent my son here for around 6 months. Originally everything was great and top-notch. Regular staff shortages- being asked if anyone can keep their child home and a number of staff changes(including with senior leadership- we found Ms.Monica to be unwelcoming, especially once we gave notice that we were moving) were difficult on us as parents. Ms.Stephanie, Ms.Tierra and some of the other staff members are all stars. Would I send my child here if I know what I know now? Maybe but I would look harder at other local daycares.

Our daughter has attended this location for a few months and we cannot say enough good things about it. As corny as it sounds, it really does feel like a family. Our daughter loves her teachers and the other infants in her class. The staff have taken time to get to know her and they love on her throughout the day. We have a great feeling walking in and dropping her off each morning, knowing she will be happy and well cared for all day.

Our family's journey with Columbus Avenue KinderCare has been nothing short of remarkable. For 2.5 years, since our son was just 5 months old, this nurturing environment has been a second home to him. He has blossomed through the infant, toddler, and preschool classes, each offering a unique blend of care, education, and developmental activities. The consistency of the teaching staff, with very little turnover, has provided a stable and familiar setting for our son to thrive. Every day, he is engaged in a vibrant curriculum that not only prepares him for the academic rigors of kindergarten but also fosters his social and emotional growth. The sense of community we've found here, among other families and educators, has truly enriched our lives, embedding us deeper into the fabric of the Upper West Side.
