They open at 6:30am - not 5:30am like their website says. This is a game changer n for many. I went here years ago and I loved it. Wanted to g return but only if 5:30am start.

$355 for teen membership (Ages 12 to 17) is really worth it! The third floor here is also really nice, there's a dedicated cardio room, a big court, and a well-maintained weightlifting room.

I have been a member for two years. The facilities are old but fine. This morning though was the second time at 7 am ish that someone on the cleaning staff has yelled “MAN COMING” while the women’s locker room—connected to the girls locker room—is full of people during the morning peak. There is no where to go when you are unclothed in the shower. This is the second time. The first time two repair men came in. Today, after asking the cleaning woman to not allow them in, they put it off. This YMCA location—I am blaming the management and not the staff paid minimum wage—is not cared for. The women’s locker room is not cared for. The curtains are plastic are barely give you privacy in the showers. They are always ripped. One time some they ripped in half. Sometimes the water is so hot without proper regulation. Other times in winter there’s no hot water at all. If you have visited other locations in Manhattan you’d know this is not the case at other locations. My husband says it’s better in the men’s locker room. This is the only gym in the metro area where there’s no single alcohol wipe in sight. I went this morning and walked the perimeter. Not a single disposable wipe in the place. Do not come here if you value privacy or cleanliness. I come for the pool but it’s going to close for close to three weeks so reconsidering my membership for the above reasons.

Majority of staff with whom I’ve had to interact are curt and don’t seem to care about customer service. Systems and procedure seem about a decade behind with no hope of becoming updated or more efficient. This includes wanting to cancel my membership. MUST go in person and sign a form. Seems it is made as difficult as possible for members to cancel. In this day and age of all things digital - why can’t this be done online??? Especially since parking in the area is so difficult (their Y parking facility is for monthly subscribers and 2 months must be paid in advance?) I have a longer list of unflattering issues but I’ve said enough.

There is no any information posted on the door or somewhere about what time the girl room and family room closed. Before 8:30, those rooms are lucked. We have to look for the staff to unlock. It’s awful to let a child wrapped in her towel to wait for her clothes.
