The worst YMCA I’ve ever been too. They also make it impossible to cancel your membership which is illegal.
AGUSTINA CAJAS ignores members emails for weeks on end. Don’t join here it’s absolutely not worth it. If you’re going to pay $100+ just join Chelsea Piers or Equinox.
Also when you call the staff will hang up on you or put you on hold for 20+ minutes hoping you’ll just hang up.

I worked with Grisselle as a personal trainer at this location and would definitely recommend her. She is very patient and thorough, and has been great to work with as someone trying to expand my workout capabilities. She is very good at adapting the workouts and building up slowly.

Just finished up a series of personal training with Grisselle Romero. Highly recommend her. She’s extremely knowledgeable and I’m seeing a noticeable improvement with my strength thanks to Grisselle.

I have been a member of the Dodge YMCA since it opened, and have always loved the community feel of the place, and the comprehensive fitness options available, from equipment to classes. For the past 3+ years I have been working with Grisselle Romero, one of the personal trainers at the Y. It has literally been transformational. When we started, I was having lower back and hip pain, and huffing and puffing on the subway stairs. Today, the hip and back pain are gone, I can deadlift 140 lbs., which I'm very proud of (I started at 30), and I have more energy, more muscle and less fat. Grisselle is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and motivating! I need some modifications to certain exercises, and she has managed those adjustments skillfully. Highly recommend.

I was a member of the Dodge YMCA on and off for over 20 years, but recently canceled my membership due to ongoing concerns with how this branch is managed.
The issue that led to my cancellation started with an unnecessarily accusatory interaction at check-in that left me feeling mistrusted rather than welcomed. To her credit, the Executive Director reached out personally and met with me, but the conversation left me feeling that staff concerns were being defended rather than truly heard. At one point, when discussing the employees involved, I was told that they were “lovely people,” which felt dismissive of the actual experience I was trying to address. After the meeting there was also no follow-up, no check-in, and no visible effort to rebuild trust.
Unfortunately, the operational problems continued even during cancellation. After my husband removed me from our family account, we were told my membership remained paid and active through May 14. However, during my final visits before that date I was repeatedly stopped at the front desk and told my membership had already ended, requiring repeated explanations each time.
Beyond this incident, the overall member experience has declined over the years. Amenities such as towel service were removed, and the group fitness schedule remains much more limited post-pandemic than it once was.
Some instructors and programs are genuinely strong, which makes this more disappointing to write. But overall, the branch feels inconsistently managed and member concerns are not handled particularly well. After more than two decades of membership, I ultimately decided it was time to move on.
