My 93 yr old mother was at Shaker Place originally for rehab after a bought of Acute aspiration Pheumonia. It happened again a couple weeks later and she was just too weak to go home so we decided long term care was the best option for her. EVERY SINGLE PERSON we encountered, from the admissions office to the Therapists to the Activities instructors to the Nursing supervisor, to the RN of the unit (Ann Lee Unit) to the LPN’s to the CNA’s to the kitchen staff, every single one of them was absolutely AMAZING! My mother could be difficult to deal with at times, retired RN with dementia, but it didn’t phase them at all. When I came in they would tell me all about the day she had and how she was. You could tell they truly loved my mom. She could
be loud and disruptive, but they all had the patience of saints! They would tell me how awesome and “spirited” of a lady she was. They would sit with her and talk with her and make her feel special. Just walking through the common area and yelling her name, followed by “I love you!” My l had been to a few different rehabs in the past for various reasons and she was NEVER taken out of her room. At Shaker Place, she was never IN her room! They had her going all the time. Even if it was just sitting where others were located. I had felt guilty after taking care of her for years and promising her I’d keep her home, to have her in a long term care facility. This was the BEST decision I ever made for my mom. She just passed this week, after 3 months there. When I went to say “good bye”, they had her all set up so beautiful for me. They made sure I was ok and some even sought me out to say just how sorry they were and that they were going to miss her.
If you have to put a loved one in a long term care facility, Shaker Place is the one to go to. Absolutely EXCEPTIONAL!

Our family recently lost my dad, and while this has been one of the hardest times in our lives, we are incredibly grateful for the care and compassion shown by everyone at this nursing home. My mom still lives here, and it continues to be a place filled with kindness, comfort, and genuine support.
The staff treated my parents with dignity, respect, and warmth, making them feel like family. Because of their care, we were able to create so many beautiful memories together that we will cherish forever. During my dad's final chapter, we never felt alone, and that meant more than words can express.
Thank you to every caregiver, nurse, aide, and staff member for your dedication and for making such a difficult journey a little easier. We will always be grateful for the love and compassion you showed our family. This is truly a special place, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a caring home for their loved one. ❤️

My mother has been a resident at Shaker Place since January 2025. Today the nursing home had an outdoor picnic for the residents and their families. I went with my mother. I have to say that it was an amazing setup. Some of the staff were cooking fresh hamburgers and hot dogs on the grills, the rolls were even grilled. The food was delicious, trust me I had one of everything, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, macaroni salad, the best potato salad I have had all summer, baked beans (I passed on those, but my mother loved them), corn on the cob, a seven-layer cake, high end frozen desserts and served with iced-cold iced tea.
All of the staff went out of their way to cater to every resident, from serving them their food like waiters and waitresses, to checking regularly to see if anyone needed anything. My mother and I had an awesome time. The staff really made it feel like we were one big family. Everyone was friendly and you could see that their only goal today was ensuring that the residents and their families had a family picnic, and that was exactly what it felt like.
The place was beautiful. Pretty tents set up to keep everyone in the shade. Giant fans were set up to keep everyone cool. It was very easy to see that time and care was taken by the staff to ensure that this was a great time had by all.
