My mother was transferred to this facility from the hospital for Rehab. After a cardio procedure, she was there for 3 weeks. Overall - she had a good experience.
Positives:
- Secure entrance with a security guard
- Renovated rooms and common spaces
- There were many bright and inviting spaces for families to visit with residents
- Knowledgeable staff members - head nurse, staff doctor, etc.
- Very clean
- The shared room had a permanent wall to provide some additional privacy
- Excellent PT services that involved the family and prepared my mom for all aspects of going home - getting in and out of the car, daily living tasks, etc.
Negatives:
- Sometimes staff came right away when my mom used the call button - sometimes it could take 30 minutes (or more).
- She didn't always like the food
I am trying to be as honest as possible in my reviews - as I know from my experience that when the hospital wants to discharge - families are faced with critical decisions and little options for rehab or long-term care.

Please take your loved ones elsewhere. ESPECIALLY if they have a disability. This place has had a history of neglect and ignoring policies. They have had multiple meetings about nurses taking pictures of residents while they’re exposed covered in their own feces, the residents being ignored completely, their needs being ignored, meals being withheld from them if they’re not in the dining room fast enough, etc. Rebecca is probably the worst of it all as she is incredibly rude to the residents and her staff. She thinks just because she has a doctorate that she’s better than everyone else and can treat them however she pleases. I visited my mom not too long ago and she had described Rebecca with the word “evil” and which I had never heard her use before. My mother is a very kind person and doesn’t dislike anyone so to hear her say this was alarming. I will be pulling my mother from there shortly and placing her in another facility. They love to hold “staff meetings” and “assemblies” to “address issues” but then never actually fix any of the issues. On top of all of that a lot of the residents are underfed and their nutrition program SUCKS! Please go elsewhere, thanks.

My mother has been a resident at Shaker Place since January 2025. Today the nursing home had an outdoor picnic for the residents and their families. I went with my mother. I have to say that it was an amazing setup. Some of the staff were cooking fresh hamburgers and hot dogs on the grills, the rolls were even grilled. The food was delicious, trust me I had one of everything, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, macaroni salad, the best potato salad I have had all summer, baked beans (I passed on those, but my mother loved them), corn on the cob, a seven-layer cake, high end frozen desserts and served with iced-cold iced tea.
All of the staff went out of their way to cater to every resident, from serving them their food like waiters and waitresses, to checking regularly to see if anyone needed anything. My mother and I had an awesome time. The staff really made it feel like we were one big family. Everyone was friendly and you could see that their only goal today was ensuring that the residents and their families had a family picnic, and that was exactly what it felt like.
The place was beautiful. Pretty tents set up to keep everyone in the shade. Giant fans were set up to keep everyone cool. It was very easy to see that time and care was taken by the staff to ensure that this was a great time had by all.

My relative was in for a month of rehabilitation, extremely understaffed, negligence/abuse, pulmonary care was a nightmare, Mr. McCoy hire more staffing in the nursing dept&hire more & better qualified staffing in the pulmonary dept. Lousy care , people do your homework before sending loved ones at shaker place.
