  I am giving a 1-star rating specifically to the kitchen staff. First, the chef—whose name I believe is Tamika is incredibly rude and tries to be intimidating. Her supervisor, Sherman, is no better. On top of that, the dishes are always dirty, and there never seem to be any clean plates or utensils. The food is both salty and undercooked. To make matters worse, the workers are constantly on their phones with earbuds in. The kitchen staff is highly unprofessional; management needs to hire new employees if they want things to turn around.

  Croasdaile Village is truly a village where the residents and staff care for one another. There are so many choices of activities that you have to choose - for body, mind and spirit. The grounds are beautiful. Walking around the lake is like being in an animated Disney movie because of the diversity of flora and fauna. The library is well stocked.

  The residents and staff are very friendly and helpful. The campus was lovely until they clearcut several large areas to build new park homes and cottages to add 100 residents. We have a refurbished cottage which we enjoy except for the low end washing machine (makes a terrible racket) and B+ finish trim work. Be prepared to upgrade items such as wire closet shelving, fireplace, bookcases, etc. The food is generally very good but it would be nice if we had more table service. The dining room carpet and chairs need refurbishment. Physical therapy is excellent. Despite these concerns we are happy to be at Croasdaile Village.

  Moving to Croasdaile Village over seven years ago was the right move for my husband and myself. The hardest part of the journey was waiting for our cottage to be ready for us to move in. It is a safe environment for me to walk in in the early morning hours before the sun is up. The wide variety of opportunities to engage in activities does mean in the end you have to choose. There are only so many hours in a day! While we do not need to depend on it often, we have been grateful for the transportation to medical appointments the times it was necessary. Our children are now comfortable with our declaration that they di not need to disrupt their lives if one of us has a medical issue that requires one or more nights the hospital. This was a goal of ours when we chose to move to Croasdaile Village. Not being medical professionals, we knew we needed a solution that would work with the family spread across the country.

  My husband and I moved to an apartment in Croasdaile Village in April 2023 when we were 76 and 78 and have been delighted with that decision. The people here, both staff and residents, are warm and welcoming. We love the facilities, especially the pool. We both take several exercise classes that are fun and challenging. We also walk outside several times a week (see pictures from a nearby park and Boles Lake) and are fitter than we have ever been. We always have an enjoyable dinner because there are so many different entrees, sides, salads, and desserts to choose from. We have both taken on several leadership opportunities and have participated in activities that keep us mentally challenged. I have also taken advantage of onsite physical therapy more than once, and Croasdaile Village is close to the VA Hospital where my husband receives some of his medical care. We both use the geriatrician in the onsite clinic as our PCP. We are loving our life here and the security of knowing that other levels of care are available when/if we need them. What a wonderful village we have to age in place!
