The Chippewa County Historical Society was founded in 1936. Our sites include the Swensson Farm Museum near Granite Falls, Historic Chippewa City in Montevideo, and Lac qui Parle Mission near Watson.
Swensson Farm Museum is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, Saturday, 1-5 pm. Private tours can be arranged.
Historic Chippewa City, a pioneer village, is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, Tuesday through Friday 10 am - 4 pm, Saturday and Sunday and holidays, 1-5 pm. September hours are Tuesday through Friday 9 am - 5 pm.
Lac qui Parle Mission is open 8 am - 8 pm daily the last Sunday in April through the end of September.
All three sites are available for reunions, weddings and other gatherings.
