If I had to do it over again, I would have made a very different choice for my mother. My experience with Keystone has been deeply unsettling and unprofessional. The head nurse and executive staff repeatedly insisted I was present at the facility on a specific date, and executive leadership went so far as to claim in front of a State of Minnesota ombudsman that they had camera footage of me there at a specific time. A few days later, I checked my Pixel 9 Pro smartphone's built-in GPS location history. The records clearly proved I had stayed home the entire day in question. Nobody at the facility had bothered to verify the surveillance footage or check the visitor logs—where I was not listed—before making these accusations. Despite this, executive leadership declared he would act as my chaperone, standing within 30 feet of me whenever I visited my mother. Accepting a chaperone just to see my own mom is completely abnormal and unacceptable. Keystone was ultimately forced to lift these restrictions, allowing our family to visit freely, but the message was clear: they seem to prioritize only those holding legal and financial authority. To them, I was "just a son"—and that title should be more than enough to visit and observe my elderly mother. I'm a 100% disabled veteran. I have serious issues with hearing in my right ear. As a result I talk louder than most not on purpose. 2 years ago I had surgery to fix a fracture leak where brain fluid from going to my middle ear and down my throat. I have a titanium plate on my skull. I still do not hear well but the pressure if off. An issue why they wanted a chaperone was because they framed my voice, size and I'm tall. I can't help it if I'm tall. Like the executive manager said your a big man with a loud voice. Framing me a a safety issue to be managed. Management and others in charge knew I am a disabled veteran. Keystone was so nice and friendly when I first toured the facility. It feels like a sales pitch until they realize you aren't the medical power of attorney or durable power of attorney writing the checks. I urge any family researching this location to look beyond the star rating and examine review patterns carefully. For example, one recurring 5-star reviewer profile has left glowing testimonials for four separate Keystone facilities located in different states over a span of seven years—all referencing a mother or grandmother. That kind of geographic spread is statistically improbable for a single family member and raises legitimate questions about the authenticity of those endorsements. My concerns grew further when I posted an honest review on Facebook for Keystone in Hugo, only to have it removed shortly thereafter. Within hours of its deletion, a surge of positive reviews appeared on Facebook from individuals who appear to be current staff members. This timing suggests a coordinated effort to boost ratings across platforms. I strongly advise families to disregard reviews from employees who do not have a loved one actively living in the facility. I have preserved screenshot documentation of these locations, dates, and review patterns as proof. I also have audio proof from the meeting with the state ombudsman. A fancy building means nothing if the conduct behind closed doors is compromised. Resources like the Minnesota Assisted Living Report Card provide comparative quality ratings, and the Office of Health Facility Complaints details official state investigations into reported mistreatment. Thoroughly inspecting every facility is crucial. I will never forget how this was handled, and I refuse to stay silent. Transparency is not optional when making critical care decisions. To the direct care givers in Sunny Cove memory care this review isn’t about you. To the direct caregivers thank you for what you do. An employee (or anyone else) who clicks the "Helpful" heart button on my Google review, it is 100% anonymous. Neither myself nor Keystone’s management can see who left a heart rating.

Keystone Place is a jewel! My relatives recently moved in there after first visiting many other care places. While helping them move, and visiting them, and eating several chef prepared meals in the dining room, I can't say enough good about the professional and caring staff. They are polite and very helpful to their residents. My relatives told me they feel very lucky to live there!

I've seen a lot of horrid elder communities, and this place is furthest from any of those experiences I've had. Very clean, and polite staff, and they seem to care greatly for their residents. The residents seem very happy and love the community they live in.
