Founded in 1990, Genesee Habitat, yearly builds or rehabs 6-8 affordable homes in Genesee County, provides approximately 100 Genesee County homeowners with critical repair services, and invests in numerous neighborhood projects throughout the City of Flint. Genesee Habitat also operates the ReStore, which offers greatly discounted new or slightly used household items to the public, diverting 300 tons a year from Genesee County landfills. Additionally, in partnership with LISC, Genesee Habitat opened the Financial Opportunity Center, where Genesee County residents can receive financial coaching and job preparedness assistance, free of charge.
