Some of the staff was great! On weekends if your loved one is unable to care for themselves /passing away, don't expect there to be any care given or pain meds passed unless you are there to ask, especially at night. At night our loved one went over 12 hours without his pain meds they needed per hospice. He was in a lot of pain when we arrived in the morning, just horrible. After that we decided someone had to stay round clock to make sure they were comfortable. As far as janitors and services, we never seen them until the day we were moving our loved ones things out. Trash was only collected by a couple of the care staff, which in my opinion they have too many other tasks to do other than that. They gave a tour to a future family while our loved one was lying in bed passing away with family there trying to grieve - brought them into the actual room without asking!!! Hospice was great, loved that we could call them for help. Can't say enough about their help. Mindy, Dani, Annette, Zoey, and I believe Jade, were great and worked hard to stay on schedule with the meds. Baths and cleaning him up were offered by them.
As a business there should be in black and white and on line what prices are. How much rooms are , level of care prices and explaining care levels, etc. If "deals" are made that's an easily explained option. When a family walks in upset and frazzled this is a very important step and it would be nice if a piece of paper could be given and in front of family members, with all that info on it. Also on line, so people can look it up and say ok for this room it's $$. I felt like it was a crap shoot and everyone has different prices, then the numbers weren't correct when payment was asked for. So watch that and pay close attention. I'm still unsure of the refund, basically it ended up costing $1000/day for our loved one, according to what was paid up front and what was refunded....idk about that math. For that money I feel you best increase your staff, pay your staff, train your staff, and possibly throw some fresh paint on some walls and new carpets or scrub them to get the last bodily fluids out of them. It is a beautiful place with great possibilities and some very caring people on staff.
A few have lost their way,I think, and can only see the dollar bills that can be made instead of the end of life for these people and their comfort and dignity. Open your eyes and do better, it's sad. Don't take advantage and remember that family members are barely getting through their day, they don't want to be rude or upset about trash, dirty rooms, loved ones being in pain, drinks not being thickened repeatedly, I know things happen. It just shouldn't happen all night, all weekend, etc.
Sometimes you have to to pay more to get the employees etc, incentives for weekends and nights. I'm not sure what the answer is but it's not working from what I seen. Just beware of this if your family member is in need of a lot of care. This could happen at a lot of places, may want to find a trusted, trained person to help with your loved one at home.
