Extremely disappointed with director/co-director and how my privacy concerns were handled.
If you are considering enrolling your children here, I strongly encourage you to ask questions about how the center handles families’ personal information and what employees are permitted to discuss about families outside of KinderCare.
I recently became aware that a KinderCare employee who provided childcare for my children outside of KinderCare hours was specifically questioned by management about my house, me, my children, and what occurred inside my private home.
I was informed that director and co-director questioned her about my house, whether I paid her, how much I paid her, how I paid her, how long I was gone, whether I had been drinking, what my children ate, and even where I purchased their food. These were details concerning my private home and a private childcare arrangement that occurred outside of KinderCare.
What made this even more uncomfortable was the commentary about what my children ate. I was told there was even a remark along the lines of “I thought they would have been eating steaks.” I find it extremely inappropriate that management was questioning an employee about my family’s meals, grocery choices, finances, whereabouts, and private household circumstances.
From what was relayed to me, this went far beyond a casual conversation. It felt like an interrogation into my personal life, my children, and my home.
I was also informed that the employee was subsequently terminated after the director/ co-director questioned her about me and my home. If that is accurate, I have serious questions about whether information concerning my private household and my children became part of an internal employment matter.
I went to the center to address my concerns directly and privately. I expected professionalism, empathy, and acknowledgment. Instead, my interaction with Ms. Victoria was extremely dismissive and blatantly disrespectful. She spent the entire conversation looking down at her computer screen, would not make eye contact with me, and showed no empathy toward the privacy concerns and issues I was raising.
I specifically asked that my personal information and my children’s personal information not be disclosed or discussed.
What is even more disappointing is that, instead of addressing the concerns surrounding management’s decision to question an employee about my private home and personal affairs, I am now being told that management wants to prevent staff from babysitting for families outside of KinderCare.
If KinderCare chooses to restrict outside childcare arrangements, that is an internal policy decision. However, changing or enforcing a policy does not address my concerns about how both the director/co-director handled this situation, why my private information was questioned and discussed, and whether appropriate privacy and professional boundaries were followed.
My concern is not simply that an employee babysat outside of KinderCare. My concern is what management chose to do with information about me and my family once they became aware of the arrangement.
I have escalated this matter to corporate and am requesting a formal review of the management conduct, the questioning of the employee, the conflicting accounts I have received, and the handling of my privacy concerns.
Families should be able to trust that their children, homes, and private family matters will be treated with discretion, professionalism, and respect. Unfortunately, this experience has left me extremely disappointed in management and deeply concerned about how my family’s privacy was handled.

Hands down my absolute favorite Daycare! Amy Arena is an amazing director and always responds quickly to questions or concerns. My children constantly receive compliments with how advanced they are. I credit Midtown KinderCare for these compliments because they’re teaching my children new things everyday! True story, my oldest began correcting us when we misidentify a dinosaur, heavy-machinery, etc. after he learned about these subjects with KinderCare.
We’ve attended five KinderCare locations since COVID kicked off due to temporary location closures and consolidations. Every location was amazing but my children were extra excited returning back to the Midtown location! All locations are integrated with KinderCare’s mobile apps where we receive photos, videos, and updates throughout the day. Their grandparents are all out of state, but we were able to give them viewing access to their photos so they receive cute daily photos of their grandkids learning and playing!
You will not regret taking your children to Midtown KinderCare! 5-star teachers, facility, and management!
