Our family was extremely pleased with the care, compassion, and professionalism we received from Greenwood Funeral Home during one of the most difficult times in our lives.
From the very beginning, the staff treated our family with kindness, dignity, and genuine concern. Every detail was handled with care, and they guided us through the entire process with patience and understanding. The funeral service for my husband was beautifully organized, allowing us to focus on honoring his life and spending time with family and friends.
We are truly grateful for the exceptional service and support Greenwood Funeral Home provided. Their compassion and attention to detail made a difficult time much easier for our family. We highly recommend Greenwood Funeral Home to anyone seeking caring and professional funeral services.

I have never felt so lost after my sister passed away unexpectedly in New Orleans. I've never experienced loss or grief this close to my heart, and I was in a perpetual state of sobbing. I called Greenwood Funeral Home after reading the reviews, and it was the best decision I made. Peyton was wonderful and so incredibly patient, so so patient. I was practically unintelligible speaking over the phone, completely stunned and barely keeping it together, but she made this whole nightmare so much easier for me and my family. Peyton helped me through the entire process. I never felt rushed or confused. I felt understood and cared for. Thank you to Peyton and the entire Greenwood Funeral Home for helping me get my sister home to us. Thank you all.

Ms Sylvia was so kind and helpful trying to assist me with travel arrangements for my aunt’s funeral in April. The airline was giving me such a difficult time when I needed to change my flight due to the funeral date changing. Ms Sylvia was so quick to supply me with the necessary documentation, and she was so caring and kind. My family has always counted on Greenwood to take care of our departed loved ones, and it’s the wonderful service like Ms Sylvia provided that explains why! Thank you so much for your kindness and compassion..
Frequently Asked Questions About Greenwood Funeral Home
Does a dead body have to be embalmed, according to law?
The Federal Trade Commission says, "Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial."
Do I have to make different funeral arrangements if I choose cremation?
It really depends entirely on how you wish to commemorate a life. One of the advantages of cremation is that it provides you with increased flexibility when you make your funeral and cemetery arrangements. You might, for example, choose to have a funeral service before the cremation; a memorial service at the time of cremation or after the cremation with the urn present; or a committal service at the final disposition of cremated remains. Funeral or memorial services can be held in a place of worship, a funeral home or in a crematory chapel.
What can be done with the cremated remains?
With cremation, your options are numerous. The cremains can be interred in a cemetery plot, i.e., earth burial, retained by a family member, usually in an urn, scattered on private property, or at a place that was significant to the deceased. (It would always be advisable to check for local regulations regarding scattering in a public place-your funeral director can help you with this.)
Today, there are many different types of memorial options from which to choose. Memorialization is a time-honored tradition that has been practiced for centuries. A memorial serves as a tribute to a life lived and provides a focal point for remembrance, as well as a record for future generations. The type of memorial you choose is a personal decision.
What is memorialization for a cremation?
You might choose ground burial of the urn. If so, you may usually choose either a bronze memorial or monument. Cremation niches in columbariums are also available at many cemeteries. They offer the beauty of a mausoleum setting with the benefits of above ground placement of remains. Many cemeteries also offer scattering gardens. This area of a cemetery offers the peacefulness of a serene garden where family and friends can come and reflect.

Are there different funeral arrangements if I choose cremation?
Choosing cremation provides flexibility. You can have a funeral service before cremation, a memorial service during or after cremation, or a committal service when the remains are placed. Services can be at a place of worship, funeral home, or crematory chapel.
What options exist for handling cremated remains?
Cremated remains can be interred in a cemetery plot, kept by family members in an urn, scattered on private property or significant places (subject to local regulations). Various memorial options are available to honor the deceased.
