- JPJessie PriceSep 29, 20262.0I’m a DSP (working with disabled individuals) who frequently visits this establishment with my client. I’ve provided this information to the front desk staff, along with my ID, so that they’re aware of the accommodation. I haven’t run into any issues previously, until today. When my client checked in, we were stopped by an elderly woman behind the front desk. I figured she hadn’t seen me before, so I was happy to explain the situation to her, and kindly let her know that my name is listed in my client’s information. Usually they’re able to quickly find it and send us on our way, no problem. Well, this particular staff accused us of being dishonest, and she was sarcastic about it as well. She made it a point to conceal her name tag, also. These actions could be seen as discriminatory and ableist, and I feel as though all staff should be educated on how to properly speak with the public, and also be properly trained on how to locate information that is important.
