  I have found the staff at Silver Lake Home of the Flint Hills to be both warm and caring not only to the residents but visitors, as well. They make sure my husband’s needs are taken care of, including helping him with the compression sleeves for his legs. My husband has gotten reacquainted with people he has known and met new friends. I have no reservations about the great care he is receiving.

  Home of the Flint Hills took such wonderful care of our Dad. It was comforting knowing that he could stay in the town he loved and would be well cared for.

  Our dad really enjoyed his time at the Home of the Flint Hills in Silver Lake. He fit in well with the other residents and staff. His room was nicely appointed and had plenty of space for his needs. He lived there for a little over two years, and was well taken care of the whole time. It was what happened during his last days there that really stood out for me. Dad was able to come and go as he pleased, and he continued to drive during his stay at the home. His last day there, he went out for a drive early in the morning and didn't return. Later that evening, the staff started to worry and began calling my brothers and I to try and locate him. After searching the area for a few hours the next day, we were at a loss as to where he could have gone. The owner, Brad Jones, volunteered to take me and the Director of Marketing, Shelby Lang, in his personal plane at his own expense and fly over Shawnee County to see if we could locate the truck. I was incredibly humbled by this act of sincerity and kindness. We searched from the plane for 3.5 hours, only stopping to refuel. He was eventually found in a heavily wooded ditch not far from where he lived most of his life, and unfortunately he had not survived the crash. But the love and concern that the whole staff showed during the ordeal was overwhelming. We will be forever grateful. There are lots of places and people that say they care for our loved ones, there are others that demonstrate it. Home of the Flint Hills demonstrated it for our Dad.
