Long Review EDITED: Took one start away. Due to their inept billing, it appears the facility billed Medicaid instead of Medicare, which has now led to billing issues. 2 months after my father passed and my mother is getting collection agencies calling her. Bear in mind she NEVER RECEIVED a bill in the first place. Repeated calls have been made to the facility and ALL have gone unanswered. Do not ever send anyone to this facility, or any La Bella facility!!!!! The Good: The Therapy Department is phenomenal and I cannot say enough great things about them. Katie has a great team who TRULY CARE about their patients and communicate well with family members. They will do things that are not considered therapy, such as getting water, ice and other “small things.” A few of the CNA’s (Iris and Kiesha, I cannot recall the other names) deserve individual mention. They are the model of a caregiver. They know their resident/patient, as well as their family members. I felt like they wanted to know the family and they gave the feeling that the family member was in good, caring hands. They joked with us, were sad with us and obviously care about their jobs. Dr Green (The facility physician) was better than most doctors we encountered. She spent over 30 minutes speaking with me, answering all of my questions, and giving a REAL assessment of the health of my family member. She did not sugar coat things and patiently listened to all of my concerns. I cannot remember the name of the Maintenance gentleman. He was very attentive to needs, as well as very friendly. I am not sure what to call their titles (They are administrative/management), but Amber and Madison deserve a shout out. They truly care about making the facility a better place and ensuring proper care and comfort for the residents. They make themselves available all hours of the day for questions, issues and complaints. The Bad: The building is very old and dated. It is in the process of being updated. Examples: Blinds not working, beds in poor shape, furniture/closets dated and iffy on operation. Within a week of arrival, the CPAP machine was dropped and broken. The nursing staff did not seem concerned. Within 2 weeks, numerous items of clothing disappeared, including items of sentimental value. They never turned up. There were two occasions where the resident was in the SAME CLOTHES for over 4 full days. This is absolutely insane. Two nurses were heard in the hall outside the room stating, “That is Mr. So and So, we can ignore his call light.” Additionally, there were several instances of waiting on care for the resident that lasted for over 2 hours. These times are not estimated, it was tracked by the family. The Social Worker/Case Manager (Chelsea, possible spelling), has ZERO compassion and even less professionalism. I have had contact with many social workers and they have to have both of those traits. She looked and dressed unprofessionally and discussions with her about Hospice care had as much sensitivity as if the lunch menu was being discussed. No caring, no compassion, no empathy. When the loved one passed away, all of his belongings were NEATLY folded and packed into clean boxes for the family to pick up. The missing clothing was still missing, however this effort made an unpleasant task a lot easier. Having had a lot of contact with various long term facilities, this is not the worst, however it is far from the best. The good staff that are here is what makes this facility better than most.

Do not admit your loved one to this place! My loved one was a resident here and begged me to bring them home. So miserable from not being able to trust in the care being received. Trust in the accuracy of the care being received and the the blatant lack of care. Abuse, neglect and horrible food. Unclean, unsanitary and rundown. Flies swarming around every day! Staff ignored resident calls regularly and out of the 5 or so that I met, 1 nursing staff member was friendly. Administrative staff are unorganized and unprofessional. Rehab department is a joke. Distant relatives, my family and myself were in shock at the other residents wandering around crying or moaning without being aided. Also, check positive reviews from staff members. Interesting tactic to beef up the positive ratio with positive staff reviews.
