CJE SeniorLife’s Adult Day Services (ADS) provides socialization, support and stimulating programs for older adults who need supervision during the day. Three locations to choose from: Evanston, Deerfield and downtown Chicago. We strive to maximize the potential of each participant, helping improve his or her quality of life while giving family members a much-needed break from the demands of caregiving. Participants thrive in a warm, caring community that has a lively and engaging atmosphere. Our creative, holistic approach to adult day programming allows us to offer participants structure and support. Our staff engages the whole person – mind, body and spirit – by integrating memory support, health and wellness and creative arts therapies (music, art, drama and dance), into each day’s activities. Sensory experiences, word games, intergenerational events, entertainment, celebrations, discussion and reminiscence groups are an integral part of the everyday experience at ADS. -Adult Day Services: The CJE Advantage Caring, professional staff with training in dementia and other aging issues. -Valuable respite for caregivers. -A full spectrum of enriching activities, including creative arts, socialization and programs designed to meet the individual’s physical, cognitive and emotional needs. -Individual needs assessment upon enrollment. -Individual care plans created and regularly reviewed. -Wellness programs and support groups for members and the caregiver.

The physical and psychological challenges older adults face as a result of their advancing age often requires them to depend on family members and paraprofessional caregivers for assistance. Today, one in four American adults provide care to an aging relative. Research shows that eighty-five percent of unpaid help provided to older adults in the United States is from family members (Alzheimer’s Association, 2015).The physical, emotional, and financial cost of providing this care is significant. Caregivers often struggle with depression, anxiety, frustration, headaches, insomnia, and feelings helplessness. We’re here to help by providing you with support, education and respite. We provide consultations and counseling, care management, and community education events geared especially for families with an aging relative. We can connect you with other resources and support groups that may help you cope better with the stresses of being a family caregiver.

There may be times when you or a loved one needs help at home with activities of daily living like dressing, bathing, grooming, light housekeeping, meal preparation, errands, companionship or respite. CJE can assist you to obtain these services through its own personal care program or through an arrangement with Gentle Home Services. For eligible older adults, CJE provides personal care services at home through a subsidized program for low income seniors administered by the Illinois Department on Aging. These services, for those who qualify, include assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, errands, light housekeeping, meal preparation and respite.

Since its inception in the early 1970s, CJE has been at the forefront of providing counseling services to older adults, their family members and caregivers. We are staffed by a team of highly-skilled Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) who are specialists in the field of older adult mental health. Services are available as home or office visits. CJE Counseling Services is dedicated to helping older adults: -Improve their mental and emotional health and well-being -Find more effective ways to manage the difficult life situations that can sometimes occur Our Clinicians assist clients with: -Addressing symptoms of anxiety and depression -Grief and loss -Recovery from trauma -Changes in health and chronic illness -Transitions to retirement -Changes in relationships -Financial difficulties -Other stresses related to coping with the challenges of aging We offer a full range of older adults behavioral health services: -Individual Supportive Counseling -Psychotherapy and Support Groups -Family and Caregiver Support -We work in conjunction with geriatric psychiatrists who may prescribe medications -Treatment Eligibility -Adults age 60 and older (sometimes 55 and older, depending on insurance).

With new advances in health care, people with special needs are living longer and more independently than ever before. CJE offers unique health care, nutrition, mind-expanding, creative and fitness opportunities for older adults who are facing emotional, physical or spiritual challenges. CJE SeniorLife has selected Gentle Home Services as a preferred provider of personal care services on a fee-for-service basis. These non-medical services are provided by trained English speaking personnel and are available on an hourly or live-in basis. All staff is screened, experienced and supervised. Gentle Home Services has 20 years of experience and is licensed, bonded and insured. Caregivers are available to: -Assist with personal care -Provide companionship -Run errands -Provide escort to medical appointments -Provide transportation -Prepare meals -Provide medication reminders

At CJE SeniorLife, we have many ways to provide food…to those who are delighted to receive a fresh, home delivered meal…to those who know they can depend on us to prepare a beautiful, kosher dinner for their home celebrations. Our food services include: -Fresh, nutritious home-delivered meals, for eligible older adults who are unable to shop or cook for themselves. -Kosher to Go™— a delicious selection of freshly frozen kosher foods available for pick-up or delivery for anyone who wants the convenience of kosher meals ready to pop in the microwave or re-heat in the oven. -Special Holiday Menus—Don't want to cook on Passover, Rosh Hashanah or Thanksgiving? CJE SeniorLife also prepares special holiday menus that include scrumptious home-made, ready-to-serve, kosher entrees and side dishes- -which can be ordered and picked up at two locations: Gidwitz Place in Deerfield or Lieberman Center in Skokie. -Catering—For your event catering needs throughout the year, CJE SeniorLife offers a complete menu of delicious kosher selections that are perfect for entertaining at home, a simcha or synagogue event.
