I am writing to express my serious concerns about the current state of the before and afterschool program. It is deeply troubling that the program fails to adequately meet the needs of children with developmental delays, ADHD, or those on the autism spectrum. These children require patience, understanding, and tailored support, yet they are often treated with a one-size-fits-all approach that leaves them struggling and excluded. The staff appears to lack proper training in working with neurodivergent children, and the program is not structured in a way that accommodates their developmental and behavioral needs. If your child has any of the above diagnoses, I strongly encourage you to look for an alternative program that can better support their growth and well-being. Equally alarming is the overly rigid and impersonal environment where children are expected to behave like robots rather than be embraced for who they are. There is little room for creativity, emotional development, or play, and the atmosphere feels more like a disciplinary facility than a nurturing environment for kids. On top of this, there are ongoing issues with bullying, where children are allowed to tease, exclude, or mistreat their peers without effective adult intervention. This fosters an unsafe and discouraging setting that can damage children’s confidence and emotional health. One especially disturbing incident involved the site director asking my 8-year-old daughter to assist another female student in the bathroom who had soiled herself. This is an entirely inappropriate and unacceptable request for a child, and it raises serious concerns about supervision, staff responsibilities, and safety protocols. No child should ever be placed in that position—this situation reflects a severe lack of professional boundaries and adequate staffing. I urge the program to conduct a thorough review of its practices, prioritize proper training, and create a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environment for all children moving forward. I went blind, deaf, and lost just about every frickin brain cell at this horrible place and I cannot believe the staff. I've lost my ability to think to the point where I can't remember if I went here or not. 🤔
