This is an amazing family owned funeral home. They provided outstanding service and compassion at a very difficult time. They helped me and my family more than I can express. Rarely do you see this kind of customer service in any indusrty these days and particularly in the funeral services businesses. Each and everyone of them was a blessing. Thank you so much for all you did.

My husband and I made prearranged plans with Stanfill prior to his death. I was very dissatisfied with the fact that upon his passing, only one person was sent to pick up his body making it necessary for a family member to assist in removal of his body. I was also asked to pay an additional $7.00 for an increase in cremation services (which seemed like an insignificant amt). Added to the stressful situation of losing my loved one.

This is not a typical service to review, and I couldn’t bring myself to do it after my father passed in 2023. But after returning to Stanfill with my mom’s passing, it’s time to share more about this truly wonderful and compassionate team. From my first call in a state of exhaustion, sadness and confusion, these incredible people were by my family’s side. Jay took that initial call (and Max took another call in March), and both were so steady and reassuring. Jay has been with us twice now, making certain we had everything we wanted and needed. Diane has a miraculous ability to keep things moving efficiently, all while making you feel valued, safe and secure. She even brought personal remembrances of my father back in 2023 which made such a calming difference as we navigated this process for the first time. And, to Dan, who met me up in Broward three years ago on one of the toughest days of my life, my eternal thanks for your guidance and kindness. Across the board, we could not have asked for anything more. Simply the best.

Frequently Asked Questions About Stanfill Funeral Home

What happens during cremation?

Cremation is another form of disposition or handling a body after death. However, many people don't know what happens during cremation. Cremation takes place in a carefully maintained facility known as a crematory or crematorium. Within the crematory is a special cremation chamber. The body is placed in a cremation container or casket and positioned inside the cremation chamber. Once the container or casket is in the cremation chamber, the door is tightly sealed. The operator then turns on gas jets, which create intense heat that reduces the body to bone fragments. This process takes approximately 2-3 hours. After the cremation, the remains are collected and processed to the consistency of sand or a finer ash. The white or grayish remains, often called cremated remains at this stage, are then sealed in a transparent plastic bag along with an identification tag. The bag weighs about 5 lbs. and will often be returned to the family in a selected urn, which can then be buried, placed in a niche inside a columbarium, taken home or transported for scattering. Additionally, the cremated remains can be separated and placed into multiple urns, keepsakes or even jewelry specifically designed as a final resting place. Cremation is a respectful, dignified process chosen by many families. However, some faiths discourage or prohibit cremation. If you plan to hold a religious funeral ceremony or have the remains buried in a church cemetery, check in advance to make sure there are no issues.
