  My spouse and I have lived at Barkley Place for several years after living at other senior living facilities. We love being here because we feel like we are among family. We don't need "luxury resort style ". We care about the others and know they feel the same. Our staff are like our children and grandchildren, taking care of us when we can't do things for ourselves. We love each and every staff member, from our kitchen crew to our housekeepers, servers, front desk people, maintenance men to the office staff and activities people. Observers will see lots of hugs given each day because the love and respect go both ways. It's all about having fun with your family. Barkley may not be the fanciest senior living facility but it's the holiest. We have no desire to move anywhere else.

  Most of the staff is amazing. The apartments are airy with lots of windows. Makes the area feel bigger and airier Wilma a server on the dining room is the most caring woman. She always listens carefully and does the best possible to accommodate our requests. They are in the process of upgrading with new hurricane windows and removing the popcorn ceilings in the common areas. The choice of carpeting is questionable. Laminate flooring would look much nicer and then eliminate a lot of staining. The women’s bathroom on the first floor needs to be upgraded. Cindy Thompson the General Manager is easy to talk to and responds to any problems as soon as possible. I would recommend this place

  The staff here awesome,. Really have a wonderful. Variety of things to do a garden that the residence can work in. Everybody is very friendly and the young people in the dining room. Very good to us. Especially Maya.

  I'm a single man & enjoy the carefree retirement lifestyle at Barkley Place. They provide 3 meals a day, weekly housekeeping including changing my sheets; and activities I enjoy like card games & dominoes. The location is great - just a short bike ride each morning to the local YMCA for group exercise classes with friends. I no longer have to do yard work or worry about condo maintenance & repair. No HOA fees!

  I’ve lived here for approximately three years, and I can honestly say there has never been a day that wasn’t filled with smiles, kindness, and good cheer. Merrill truly feels like one big family. Every member of the staff is gracious, welcoming, and always willing to help. No matter what you need, someone is there with a smile and a solution—whether it’s in the dining room, at the front desk, on the maintenance team, housekeeping, or our caring leadership staff. Their dedication to the residents is evident every single day. It’s not just the staff who make Merrill special. The residents have created a wonderful sense of community. The friendships, camaraderie, and many social activities make living here both rewarding and fun. I also think it’s important to recognize how well this community is maintained. The building is clean, beautiful, and continually updated. It is safe and secure, providing peace of mind during hurricanes and other outside events. I am truly grateful to call Merrill my home and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a warm, caring, and vibrant community. Ruth Scott
