Very helpful and compassionate during an incredibly difficult time. Roger was most gracious in walking me through the various options & checked on me throughout the process. Appreciate everyone’s assistance in arguably the worst time of my life.

This year is the 16th year that Harvey-Engelhardt in Fort Myers and Fuller Metz in Cape have made FLAG DAY a very special day for our Veterans and our community as the funeral homes replace worn flags with new flags! Collecting over 3000 worn flags and retiring them with the help of Boy Scouts, and generously providing the flags and the appropriate venue for flag retirement. This Flag Day ceremony is a civic duty and recognizes the dignity and respect for our flag while providing a sweet teaching moment for young patriots! 92.5 Fox News Radio and Blue Bell ice cream are proud to be a part of Flag Day every year! Thank you Rachel and Tim Hauck!

I mainly dealt with Ken and Caitlin and they were great. They were extremely helpful with my husband’s preparation and transportation back to MA where he wanted to be buried. They helped coordinate with the other funeral home in MA where the services were held as I had no idea how to do all of that. I highly recommend them.

Thank you Ken, Sean, Rene, Justine and Sharon for handling everything with such care and professionalism. The service was beautiful, the music and guest attendance went smoothly, and the photos and prayer cards were a very special touch. Our family truly appreciated the respect shown to my daughter's grandmother.

The funeral home provided exceptional care and support during a very difficult time. They treated my grandpa with the utmost respect and kindness, handling everything with professionalism and compassion. Their attention to detail and genuine concern made a heartbreaking experience a little easier to bear. I am truly grateful for the care they gave to my grandpa and my family.

Frequently Asked Questions About Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral & Cremation Services

Should I choose Burial or Cremation?

Burial in a casket is the most common method of disposing of remains in the United States, although entombment also occurs. Cremation is increasingly selected because it can be less expensive and allows for the memorial service to be held at a more convenient time in the future when relatives and friends can come together. A funeral service followed by cremation need not be any different from a funeral service followed by a burial. Usually, cremated remains are placed in urn before being committed to a final resting place. The urn may be buried, placed in an indoor or outdoor mausoleum or columbarium, or interred in a special urn garden that many cemeteries provide for cremated remains. The remains may also be scattered, according to state law.

Why have a public viewing?

Viewing is a part of many cultural and ethnic traditions. Many grief specialists believe that viewing aids the grief process by helping the bereaved recognize the reality of death. Viewing is encouraged for children, as long as the process is explained and the activity is voluntary.
