Matthew Hoffman, Director of Sales at The Barclay Boynton Beach, made an extraordinary difference for our family through one of the most difficult transitions we have ever faced. His compassion, patience, and professionalism were evident from the very start. From the very beginning, Matthew understood that moving a loved one—our Dad—into memory care is so much more than completing paperwork and making arrangements. It is an emotional process for the entire family, and one that often comes with fear, uncertainty, differing opinions, and sometimes denial. Matthew has an exceptional ability to navigate all of those emotions with patience, sensitivity, and genuine understanding. Our circumstances required a very short turnaround, and Matthew was remarkably accommodating. He guided us seamlessly through each step, answered countless questions, assisted with paperwork, remained incredibly responsive, and helped alleviate much of the stress surrounding the transition. When disagreements or delays arose within our family, he never pressured us. Instead, he listened, educated, reassured, and gave us the time and guidance we needed to move forward. What impressed me most is that Matthew never made us feel as though we were part of a sales process. He builds relationships, not transactions. That distinction mattered tremendously to our family and was especially important in helping my mother become more comfortable with a decision she understandably struggled to accept. Matthew is also exceptionally knowledgeable about the different forms and stages of dementia and the behaviors that can accompany them. He was able to explain what we were experiencing in a way that was both informative and compassionate, helping us better understand what our Dad needed and what we might expect. Perhaps the greatest testament to Matthew is simply watching him interact with people throughout The Barclay. There is an obvious mutual respect between Matthew and the staff, residents, and families visiting their loved ones. He seems to remember everyone’s name and always takes the time to acknowledge them. That speaks volumes about who he is and the relationships he has built within the community. When families are making decisions such as these, they need someone who understands that they are entrusting a facility with someone they deeply love. Matthew never loses sight of that. He helped mitigate the trauma of an incredibly difficult chapter for our family and made the process feel far more manageable and personal. We are immensely grateful for Matthew’s guidance, patience, knowledge, and, most importantly, his humanity throughout our Dad’s transition to The Barclay. He is truly an exceptional representative of the community and someone families are very fortunate to have beside them during such a vulnerable time.

My dad moved into memory care four months ago at the Barclay. He has never participated before in group activities and here he goes on the field trips and he sings when they have a musician and he seems very happy. The staff is attentive and kind and the property is kept up well. There are lovely outside areas and rocking chairs on the front porch and we are super happy with the Barclay.
