  This retirement community is different from many in ways that are very important! I have been a volunteer there for over 6 years, beginning with the placement of my “ second mother “ in the rehab unit when it still existed. My Labradoodle Sophie and I try to visit every week- our designated person but also anyone who wants to receive the attention of a sweet Labradoodle! The Director of Nursing is a special person; the Executive Director is a wonderful person! The community is full of engaging people!

  My mother has lived at The Residences at Thomas Circle for several years, first in assisted living and now in memory care, so our family has had the opportunity to experience the community through several different stages of care. Overall, there is a lot that Thomas Circle does well. As my mother’s needs have become more complex, I have seen staff treat her with patience, dignity, and compassion. The memory care team has worked with us, outside providers, and other members of her care team to make sure she is supported. That matters enormously to a family. I especially want to recognize Sena and Addis. Both have been responsive, professional, and willing to have candid conversations when questions or concerns have come up. Sena in particular has been someone I have been able to reach out to when I needed help navigating an issue, and I appreciate that she does not simply make concerns disappear into a system. I also want to be candid because families researching senior living deserve an honest picture. Communication and administrative processes have not always been seamless. There have been times when I have had to follow up more than I should have to get clarity, including around billing and other administrative matters. We have also had a few interactions at the front desk that did not feel as welcoming as I would expect from a community where families are dealing with already difficult circumstances. To management’s credit, when I have raised concerns, they have generally listened and worked to address them. No senior living community is perfect, particularly when caring for residents with significant and changing needs. What matters to me is how people respond when something needs attention. In our experience, there are people at Thomas Circle who genuinely care about my mother and who have been willing to work with our family when we needed them. For families considering Thomas Circle, I would encourage you to ask detailed questions, stay engaged in your loved one’s care, and get to know the staff. I am grateful for the people there who have cared for my mother and for the relationships we have developed along the way.

  The Residences at Thomas Circle provides excellent Assisted Living caregiving, nursing, activities, and dining for my wife with professionalism and in a loving environment. The facility and apartment is always clean and orderly. The concierge, front office staff, and executive director have wonderful customer service. I highly recommend ‘The Res’ for Assisted Living.
