My wife and I have lived at Vi Highlands Ranch for two years. We are delighted with our apartment. The unit was completely redone at Vi’s expense. Everything was put in new: appliances, floors, tile, countertops, cabinets, wall paint, etc. it was a real joy to move in. The staff is number one. The number of activities is also great: movies, live entertainment, university courses from Denver University, lectures by residents as well as outside experts, technical help from your TV to your smart phone and everything in between, an incredible array of exercise classes from pool exercises to yoga with an incredible variety. We have three restaurants with an incredible variety - in the main restaurant we have a choice of 12 entrees that rotate weekly. Most dishes are available to take to your apartment if desired. All apartments have full kitchens with microwaves.
Vi at Highlands Ranch is a real resident community which is very special. Everyone is so friendly from the staff to the residents. It’s a real joy living here.

From the moment you walk into Vi, you can feel that it’s a special place. The community is beautiful, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed, but what truly stands out is the people. Every interaction has been warm, professional, and genuinely caring.
The Executive Director was especially helpful, taking the time to answer questions, provide guidance, and make us feel comfortable every step of the way. It’s clear that the leadership sets the tone for a culture of kindness, respect, and excellence throughout the entire community.
The residents appear happy and engaged, and there is a real sense of community that is hard to find. If you’re looking for a retirement community where people are treated with dignity, compassion, and genuine care, I highly recommend Vi. It is evident that everyone here is committed to creating an exceptional experience for residents and their families. Couldn’t have chosen a better place for my parents!

More than seven years ago, my wife Alice and I moved to Vi at Highlands Ranch from our wonderful home in Golden’s oldest historic district. When we moved, Alice was in her early seventies. I’m five years older.
We had an advantage deciding where to live. My mother had spent the last decade of her life at Vi at Grayhawk in Scottsdale, Arizona. Then it was called “Classic Residence by Hyatt” and we personally came to know that the name was entirely appropriate – Vi is the CLASS of continuing care retirement communities.
The decision to move was easy once I realized it was inevitable – just a matter of timing. And the risks were all in favor of allowing Vi to protect our long-term health and wellness. Vi at Highlands Ranch is the only Type A CCRC in the state of Colorado, meaning it has all levels of care included in our monthly fees. I decided then that I’d rather be a few years early than a week too late.
Now I’m reaping the rewards. Cognitive decline has its grip on the love of my life. But Vi takes such good care of us that I can keep her here with me in Independent Living far longer than I would have been able to manage with all the other responsibilities of a homeowner. I can go bike riding as often as I want, with the knowledge that any level of care we might need is right here for us.
And I get to live in a community of truly inspiring residents. We meet to talk timely topics, meditate, and participate in activities together. Vi does everything for me, so my time is freed up to volunteer on resident committees to help other residents and collaborate with management. To top it off, our “1859” and “Mt. Rosa” restaurants regularly serve meals as good as I’ve had in any restaurant. Let’s face it – if you’re not cooking at home anymore, it’s important to know you’ll have reliably good food.
Vi at Highlands Ranch lets me live an active, fulfilling life in an engaging community, while keeping Alice here with me. Had we waited five years, it would have been too late. Don’t wait until it’s too late.
Frequently Asked Questions About Vi at Highlands Ranch
What is a Life Plan Community/CCRC?
A Life Plan Community, also known as a continuing care retirement community, or “CCRC” offers residents a combination of housing, dining, and certain amenities and health care services in return for a monthly fee and an entrance fee. Residents do not purchase their apartments. The entrance fee and monthly fees you pay give you the right to occupy an apartment for life and cover the services you receive while residing at the community, including the care services offered at the community’s care center.
Where is Vi at Highlands Ranch?
Vi at Highlands Ranch is located at 2850 Classic Drive Highlands Ranch, CO 80126
What care does Vi at Highlands Ranch offer?
There are three basic types of continuing care contracts that a CCRC may offer, commonly known as Type A, Type B, and Type C.A
Type A contract provides the most comprehensive continuing care coverage. A Type A contract generally provides for transfer to any of the community’s care venues for an unlimited time at little or no additional cost beyond the monthly fee paid while residing in independent living (including any ongoing monthly fee increases applicable to such independent living unit) and the costs of ancillary supplies and additional meals.
A Type B contract typically includes a specific number of “free” days in the community’s care venues at the monthly fee rate paid by the resident for his/her independent living apartment. When those “free” days are exhausted, the resident begins to pay a market rate for care services. With this type of contract, the resident assumes some risk in terms of paying for services at an amount in excess of the monthly fee.
A Type C (or fee-for-service) contract does not include care services at the monthly fee rate or discounted rate. Residents receive priority admission to the community care venues, but must pay the market rate for care venue services. With this type of contract, the resident assumes the highest level of risk, as charges will vary depending upon the services needed.
Vi at Highlands Ranch offers only a Type A continuing care contract.
