I am writing this review based on the treatment that my aunt who is a long time member of the church was treated by the Bishop at this particular location. She had asked him for food assistance after much struggle. He turned her down and told her she is being lazy and not participating enough to serve in church. After all the years of paying tithing, fast offering and other monies towards the function and charitable needs of the LDS church and its altruistic causes, she could not receive food? Some generous folks were able to give her money to buy food. This disgusting treatment was uncalled for. A person cannot help being disabled, being homeless or placed in such tragic or sad circumstances. Why would a multi-millionaire Bishop understand persons experiencing tragic and terrible plights? He owns 14 memory care and assisted living facilities, places that he makes money off of people who have disabilities and dire conditions. He said he had to drive from his expensive fancy home in Englewood to downtown Denver to do this calling as Bishop. He has stated many times he didn't want to do it. I am sure he has harmed others in this church that he either has judged poorly or affected their lives with his swift assumptions into their lives. Yes, most of the congregation are elderly, new converts, drug addicts, alcoholics, single people or inactive members, but that is the congregation he inherited. In fact, the church leaders had to "borrow" 4 other families from Greenwood Village and Willow Creek Ward who have long time married couples with their many children to attend this particular church ward because they needed to show that there were intact marriages and families. These affluent families live also in Greenwood Village and Englewood. They now "minister" to the new converts, investigators or current members that were hardly attending church. Bishop Lewis needs to be removed from his calling. Firstly, the church leaders are not equipped to counsel anyone. They do not pursue education in Theology, Psychology or any other related studies to be able to take care of a congregation. Other churches do, but these lay Bishops, Stake Presidents and the like are just chosen due to their long memberships, standing in the community or your typical Patriarchy legacy. My aunt almost killed herself that evening after this Bishop's counsel. She was homeless for a time and thankfully loving friends and family were able to rescue her from this diabolical, neglectful and heavily judgmental and irresponsible wealthy and insensitive church leader. The actual Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints does not practice nor support this type of abuse. This is based on the individual. This must be remedied. Thank God, that my aunt is in better hands. She has been a faithful serving member and child of God and is precious in the Lord's eyes.
