Annie provided exceptional customer service when our family was looking to purchase a specific urn for a loved one. It took about a week from order to delivery for our customized urn to show up which is great given the time sensitivity of the matter. Annie walked us through the whole process and went above and beyond to draw up templates with various fonts and designs so that we can preview the final product. Awesome work, highly recommend!

My experience at Darling Fischer Chapel of the Hills was excellent. They were caring, helpful and efficient in all interactions. I am greatly appreciative of their support in coordinating with another out of state funeral home to support the care, transportation and burial of my loved one out of state.

The staff are nice, they set out all of our decorations beautifully, but they forgot to play my Mother’s slideshow. I was told not to worry about a thing and that everything would be taken care of for us at the service. I took my flash drive and we tested it beforehand as requested and they never played it. I spent hours collecting pictures and scanning them and of course I wasn’t thinking clearly during the viewing with all my grief. By the time I realized it and they played it everyone was walking up to view her and then walked out. I’m so disappointed. They also never played my Spotify playlist and I had to ask them to do that and that was also at the end. I also spent hours collecting her favorite songs. I was told they would save all the cards from all the arrangements that were delivered and not to worry about them. I went to pick up my stuff yesterday and there were no cards. They tried to look for them and didn’t find them
Now I don’t know who to thank for all the flowers. I’m so disappointed about all these things. I don’t know if I would feel comfortable using them again or recommend them for that matter. These are all such important factors in a loved one’s tribute and I’m heartbroken that they were not taken care of.

There simply are not enough stars to adequately reflect the service we received from Elliot and the team at Darling & Fischer Chapel of the Hills.
Our dear friend Stuart passed away unexpectedly in California whilst we were over 5,000 miles away in England. What followed was an incredibly complex, emotional and often overwhelming process to bring him home to the UK so that he could be laid to rest beside his parents, in accordance with his wishes.
From our very first contact, Elliot was nothing short of exceptional.
Navigating an international repatriation is daunting at the best of times, but Elliot guided us through every stage with extraordinary kindness, patience, professionalism and compassion. No question was ever too much trouble. No email went unanswered. No problem was treated as an inconvenience.
Throughout the process, Elliot became far more than a funeral director. He was a source of reassurance, practical guidance and calm during some very difficult moments. Whether helping us understand procedures, liaising with various authorities, arranging documentation, coordinating Stuart's journey home, or simply taking the time to explain things when we felt overwhelmed, he consistently went above and beyond.
What impressed us most was that despite dealing with what must be countless families, Elliot never made us feel like just another case. He treated Stuart with dignity and respect, and treated us with genuine warmth and humanity. Even across different countries and time zones, we always felt supported.
Thanks to Elliot's dedication and expertise, Stuart made it safely home to England and was laid to rest exactly where he wanted to be. That is something for which we will remain forever grateful.
In a world where exceptional customer service is increasingly rare, Elliot exemplifies what funeral care should be: compassionate, professional, responsive and deeply human.
If you find yourself needing funeral services and are fortunate enough to have Elliot and the team at Chapel of the Hills caring for your loved one, you will be in the very best of hands.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything you did for Stuart and for us.

Arrange for members of family or close friends to take turns answering door or phone, keeping careful record of calls. If Social Security checks are automatic deposit, notify the bank of the death.
When I call, will someone come right away?
If you request immediate assistance, yes. If the family wishes to spend a short time with the deceased to say good-bye, that’s perfectly acceptable. Your funeral director will come when your time is right.
Should I choose Burial or Cremation?
Burial in a casket is the most common method of disposing of remains in the United States, although entombment also occurs. Cremation is increasingly selected because it can be less expensive and allows for the memorial service to be held at a more convenient time in the future when relatives and friends can come together.
A funeral service followed by cremation need not be any different from a funeral service followed by a burial. Usually, cremated remains are placed in urn before being committed to a final resting place. The urn may be buried, placed in an indoor or outdoor mausoleum or columbarium, or interred in a special urn garden that many cemeteries provide for cremated remains. The remains may also be scattered, according to state law.
What is the purpose of embalming?
Embalming sanitizes and preserves the body. Embalming makes it possible to lengthen the time between death and the final disposition, allowing family members time to arrange and participate in the type of service most comforting to them.
Does a dead body have to be embalmed, according to law?
The Federal Trade Commission says, "Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial."
What steps should I take immediately after a death occurs?
The funeral home will help coordinate arrangements with the cemetery. Bring vital information like birthplace, parents' names, Social Security number, and other personal details. Contact your clergy and decide on the funeral or memorial service timing and location. The funeral home can assist with death certificates, obituary, and notification of family and friends.
Will someone come right away if I call the funeral home?
Yes, if you request immediate assistance. However, if the family wishes to spend a short time with the deceased to say good-bye, the funeral director will come at a time that feels right for you.
Should I choose burial or cremation for my loved one?
Burial is the most common method, but cremation is increasingly chosen for cost savings and scheduling flexibility. Cremated remains can be placed in an urn and buried, placed in a mausoleum or columbarium, interred in an urn garden, or scattered according to state law.
What is the purpose of embalming?
Embalming sanitizes and preserves the body, allowing time between death and final disposition so family members can arrange and participate in comforting services.
Is embalming required by law?
Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. It may be necessary if certain funeral arrangements like viewings are chosen. If you do not want embalming, you can select arrangements such as direct cremation or immediate burial that do not require it.
