- BSBecky SmithDec 30, 20251.0The young therapy internship were great but my 12 yo daughter had to keep changing to a new intern every couple of months due to them graduating. I asked for someone more long term due to my daughter having self harm scares. I was told as her mother that she could be scheduled with a new intern after end of January when they get new interns for a year. I asked to be matched up with a long term therapist and was told that due to my daughter having sooner care insurance she had to be scheduled with interns only. This is NOT ok!!! My Daughter should be able to be matched up with any therapist there since they accept her insurance there! Having Soonercare insurance should NOT matter!!! She should NOT be the short straw just because of her insurance!!! This is SO WRONG!!! Whoever made this policy should be ashamed of themselves!!! You get paid regardless but I'm guessing you get less money from sooner are which is why you schedule those with sooner care with only interns that will only be there short term. This is supposed to be a place of hope for those struggling with their mental health!!! It should NOT be just about how much money you get!!! My Daughter deserves the same quality of care as anybody else!! What sense does it make to keep switching therapists on a client? There is supposed to be a time to build repor and get them to open up and talk about their feelings. Switching therapists every couple of months is not beneficial or therapeutic in any way!! What if my Daughter self harmed during that time of waiting for another therapist??? The ER is only for those that have a plan in place to commit suicide. My Daughter needs help now before it gets to that point NOT to wait for over a month to see a new therapist intern because she has Sooner Care!!! She should NOT be treated as if she is the bottom of the barrel period!!!
