  My mother was a resident at the Home of The Good Shepard in Saratoga Springs. I know many of you reading this will hang on every word to make sure this is the right place for your loved one. Look no futher this is the best place around. For starters the activity staff lead by Doreen is fantastic. Always something to do for the residents. The first month my mother was there they had the "senior prom" where all the residents dressed up in their best attire for a special night of music food and fun. Was a beautiful for my mother as she felt so special again. The aids and the nurses couldnt be more attentive to the residents. If you are looking for perfection you will never find it but this place is pretty close. I moved my mother to Saratoga/Home of theGood Shepard so she could be close to me I visted my mother close to every day. I saw the ins and outs of the place on a regular basis and I couldnt be happier. My mother had a dire diagnosis of dementia. Home of Good Shepard staff met my mother where she was in life. They were, kind, gentle and thoughtful. I was happy every day that i walked into that place and happy every time I left knowing that my mother was cared for. My mother was at another assisted care place prior and I will say that the difference is the other place was where people went to die, Home of the Good Shepard is a place where people go to get the most out of life with the time they have remaining. My mother has recently passed and I am grateful that she was able to be at Home of the Good Shepard in the end. She passed away in my arms at 3 in the morning. Within 15 minutes all of the over night staff came in her room to pay their respects. In my brothers eulogy for my mother he thanked God for all the angels that worked at the Home Of the Good Shepard and cared for my mother. I visited this place at least 5 days a week for 2 1/2 years. Look no futher. Your loved one will be in good hands. Special thanks goes out to aids Tara and Carissa who really cared for my mother and super big thank you to Katrina and Desere who not only looked after my mom for years but she took care of me too. I know I am leaving people out and I apologize. Thank you. And to the rest of the residents who remain on the enhanced floor, thank you for the love support and compassion you showed my mother. May God continue to bless you

  Just a terrible place for anyone's love ones simple. Do not live to regret it like me. Just AWEFUL not by looking from the outside inward "smh". Terrible 💔 Natalie

  We’ve had a truly positive experience with the staff here since mom moved into her assisted living apartment 6 years ago. I wanted to take a moment to recognize the exceptional care and kindness we've seen from everyone—but especially from Dorene, the activity director, and her wonderful team. Dorene brings such energy, compassion, and creativity to everything she does. She goes above and beyond to ensure the residents are engaged, uplifted, and truly enjoying their days. Whether it’s organizing special events, daily activities, or simply taking the time to connect on a personal level, her care and dedication shine through. Her team reflects that same spirit—warm, encouraging, and attentive. It’s clear that they care deeply about the well-being of each resident. Their efforts make a real difference, and it gives our family such peace of mind knowing our loved one is surrounded by such a thoughtful and caring group. We’re so grateful for Dorene and the entire staff. Thank you for all that you do!

  Overall, our experience w/ the HGS has been very positive, for the past 3 years, for my loved one. They provide allot of services for the amount charged, compared to other area communities. They are skilled, caring workers who treat us w/ kindness & respect. Our family member is very pleased there, especially w/ the food, activities, nursing & aid teams, salon & private room. I've found them to be very helpful, attentive, smart, decent, people.
