  My kid had a great experience at River School. It was very diverse and the teachers were so affectionate and attentive. We loved the cultural events they had. It was a long time ago but it is still a good memory.

  Truly amazing school, a bright spot of my day everyday when my daughter was there. Teachers are caring and warm, administration is professional and efficient. I knew my daughter was in good hands from day 1. We had the best experience there.

  We are so grateful for the the River School. Our second child is now attending after our first having had an amazing 5 years there. Walking into the River School for the first time you automatically feel like you are joining a family. The teachers are warm and caring. You know you are leaving your kids in great hands. The facility is clean. The activities are fun and the kids love attending. I’d definitely recommend.

  I sent both my daughters to the River School, starting at 18months, all through to PreK-4. My heart shattered when my younger one missed in-class learning due to COVID19 during her last 6-months, including their amazing (did I say beyond amazing) summer session. The difference between River School and other preschools was evident when my girls went off to Kindergarten. My children had a grounded, worldly view of their surroundings. They learned and celebrated Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa, not to mention Chinese New Year, Valentines, July 4th, and all the other holidays. Their curriculum is balanced and beyond enriching, that there is no other comparison. The teachers are beyond amazing. The River School will maintain their reputation for years to come so long as the very same teachers and directors are at the helm because they've been inside the classrooms (before Bright Horizon took over) as teachers. I think that's pretty rare to have that kind of insight in a working environment pre and post-restructuring. I hope that River School continues to have its autonomy in running the school because it's everything that makes this review 100% true. Any new parent hesitant about separating from their toddler for the first time, do know that I've been there. But there's no better feeling than picking up your child at the end of your day...and they don't want to go home! It has happened to every single child that has walked through those doors. It has taken me so long to write this because it seems so final. I miss OUR River School and the teachers. Thank You. Every one of you nurtured and educated my children during the most critical stage of brain development as if they were your own. I cannot thank you enough, and these words are simply a small expression.

  I was lucky enough to find River School early on. We actually enrolled our eldest daughter before she was even born as multiple neighbors sent their children there and spots were limited. My youngest enrolled in the infant Tiny Tigers classroom and went all the way to graduation in Pre-K 4 in the Giraffes classroom. My younger daughter would go on to follow suit. To say the school has been a beacon of light for us is an understatement. We have been able to see the school through all of its transitions (private to corporate, new Directors, etc.) but one thing remains the same;  the model is exceptional, the school is exceptional, but what really makes it the most special place are the people that are on the ground every day running it. The directors, the administrative staff, and the teachers! My goodness, the teachers! I honestly can’t speak highly enough about the River School staff. You consistently have the A team. These are the teachers and the school directors that have been there, on the ground, for years and years. In each classroom, they bring experience, dedication and loyalty to the school and parents. The curriculum is rich and play based. It is also unlike any other game in town, as they have many extracurricular activities such as music, piano, soccer, art, ice skating, chess, etc. It's clean, cheery, and the safety protocols in place are top notch. There are also big windows of full light in every single one of the classrooms (which in NYC day care/day schools you will be hard pressed to find). River School wasn't just a school for us, it was our home for many years and we were treated like family. I would highly and without reservation, recommend River School Westside.
