It was safe, warm, and clean.
If you don't expect to be staying at the Ritz-Carlton, you will be content. Multiple people say this is like a prison - I think it's closer to a university dorm.
Bring flip flops and your own shampoo/toothpaste/toiletries for you to shower and get ready.

The facilities are too old and poor, the room temperature was cold. No fridge or microwave anywhere, provided only one towel, low-maintenance public bathroom, indifferent frontdesk person…
Be kind to yourself, go add ~50 dollars to get a much better room elsewhere.

My review is about Aquatic director incapable to update website or notices on site about pool closures or lane closures and just playing the power game n showing up and in the middle of your training session kicking you out of lanes
How hard is it to update websites and schedules everybody else does it, but not at the Westside Y
Director if confronted will not even apologize just say it’s written at the bottom ( yea if you scroll down for 30 seconds you might find a note that says we might close some lanes for training )
Just wished people did their job properly - at least somebody s getting paid with members dues
Service hospitality business at it’s worse !
Y NEEDS TO FIND A NEW Director eager to work n do their job

I honestly cannot highlight anything positive about our stay. The place was extremely dirty. When we entered the room, there were bugs on the bed and on the walls, not to mention the overall condition of the room itself. I am very disappointed. I understand this is not a five-star hotel, but a place that rents rooms with cockroaches should not be allowed to operate.
Regarding the bathroom, it was in the same or even worse condition. The sinks were not working properly and were leaking water from underneath, leaving the entire bathroom flooded. It was impossible to even step inside.

I love this place I went there for my first time in NYC on 2021 and I came back in 2025. I love it, the location is impecable, the people it's great, of course you have some days where people could have a bad one and it's okay... But regardless of that it's amazing.
You have a pool and a gun to use, sadly I was always so tired and couldn't take advantage of it. The rooms are great always clean, and if there aren't you can ask. I always stayed in private rooms, so I don't know about the shared rooms but I didn't heard any complains.
The only thing that makes me put 4 stars instead of 5 it's that the WiFi this 2025 was really bad. I don't know if it was because of how crowded it was or what but I think it's something easy to fix.
I will go back either way to this amazing place.
