Bad management; hostile I was doing the back stroke today but with arms out and knees toward chest then legs out in snow angle fashion. I only do this if there’s empty lanes or lanes with just 1 person in other lanes. Today there were 3 lanes with 1 person swimming in each. A guy came in and TOLD me to split the lane with him. I asked him to please split the lane with 1 of the other 2.. 1 person occupied lanes because I can only do the back stroke if no else is in the lane I’m in. Since there were 2 other lanes with 1 person occupied lanes they were swimming normal stroke. He pitched into me no thats not the way it works. 3 lanes each with 1 person in it and the only one he demanded to swim in was the 1 lane where he saw me doing this back stroke. His only intention was to harass me and disrupt. That was abundantly obvious even to an idiot and that creates a Hostle environment. I went to the director and he said anybody can swim anywhere they want and made excuses he said maybe he was a faster lane I said both lanes were fast. I earlier changed lanes because this 1 older guy comes in and always walks swims and blocks swimmers in the fast and medium lanes. Twice I approached Director today but he refused to acknowledge this guys harassment because he had 3 lanes to chose to swim in and the only lane he demanded to swim in was the one that I was doing the backstroke in. I asked this guy why was the only lane out of 3 he demanded to swim in was the 1 he saw me doing the backstroke in. I asked him what was the difference in the 3.. 1 person lanes? So I couldn’t do the back stroke? It was his intention to harass me, too ruin and disrupt my swim. His only intention was to harass me. I’ve complained before when other swimmers would wait till I got to the end of the pool and then they’d charged in front of me and blocking me repeatedly…harassment. Then lifeguards would blow the whistle at me when swimmers bullied me and they were deliberately blocking me ( harassing) they'd then blow there whistle at me. Never at the bullies. A lot of good people but a lot of trouble makers too that director and lifeguards encourage trouble makers disruptions instead of preventing them. I should’ve just called this guy out said thank you Karen to just nip it in the bud. He swam 10 minutes and left. They foster tacky behavior and oppress any Finesse. I shouldn’t have to draw the harassment to there attention.. as far as I know they’re not blind. Hopefully pool security cameras work.

Came in to pause my membership on Sunday 11/30 around 12:30 pm. There was only one gentleman in the front desk, and he clearly seemed annoyed. I tried to be very nice asking him how he was and his attitude was very like “just get to the point”, which can make any person uncomfortable or thrown off. Usually when there’s a bad interaction between a staff member and a customer, there’s more to the backstory and more likely both parties are at fault, but this guy just seemed annoyed at everyone and everything. His attitude was not only towards me, but everyone coming in the front desk. There were two other persons, young adults, that walked in around that same time frame 12:30-12:50 that seemed like it was their first time coming in so they didn’t really know where to scan or what to do in order to access the facility. He was like “just scan” and didn’t even bother to show them where to scan nor to help one of them out, which was clearly having trouble scanning the barcode. It’s one thing to have that attitude that usually younger adults working there have, than the “you are annoying me” attitude towards customers. Unfortunately, I don’t remember his name. YMCA is a really good place, especially LIC branch, and all of their staff is very helpful and nice. But interactions like this can really make a negative impact on existing members and future/new ones.

There is a man in the locker room. All he does is go back and forth between the sauna and shower. He puts water in the bag and washes the place where he will sit and wets everything. In the sauna, he applies lemon on his body and especially on his feet for a long time and it is very uncomfortable and he stretches his feet towards me and constantly watches people in the locker room. Please warn me or I will cancel my membership. The person I am talking about is 35-40 years old, I think he may be an Indian.

I used to come here to swim and there was a life guard who was very creepy. He would only look at me when I was swimming in the lanes and not all the other swimmers but obviously it's his job so I didn't think much of it. But then one time i went to the gym and i was on the treadmill. I put on my glasses and look up to see him across diagonally in front of me in the treadmills against the walls. He was just standing there smiling and looking at me through the mirror. Then he gets off and starts walking towards me. I got scared, so I ran away. He was hispanic and had a mustache or something. Only the men life lifeguards acted weirdly in front of me, never the females. I just wanted to swim in peace w/o being objectified. And the weird ones were also a tall white guy, and an asian guy who is around the same height as the hispanic life guard but maybe short. I'm pretty sure they are all a lot older than I was when I was in this ymca and I was only 18 at the time. Idk if he still works there nor his name. If he and the other life guards see this, get a life. Weridos and creeps everywhere and its always a man. That was just one example. Its also not worth paying so much money for a tiny gym facility where people hog the machines and don't clean after themselves.
