It’s funny to say that I wish I never had to use the services of this establishment and hope none of you do either. Unfortunately there comes a time where these services are needed. And I wouldn’t want to use anyone else. I’ve had the unfortunate need of their services for both my father and just recently my mother. I will say that Daltons made the experience so much easier on me and my family. They are very professional. Empathetic. And keep things simple for you. They answer every question and do everything possible to make this experience as calm and compassionate as possible. I highly recommend them. They made the worst weeks of our lives a little easier. I can’t imagine how much worse things would have been without them. Stephanie was there for us every step of the way. She explained things as patiently and professionally as one could ask. And is there to figuratively hold your hand through all the decisions you’ll need to make. I couldn’t have been happier with how things went with either of my parents services. They help you set up services with the church and cemetery and at the wake in their building she was there the whole time. Keeping things running well and on time. I want to thank you Stephanie, Caitlin and the rest of the staff. You made it all much easier to get through these hard times. I hope whoever is reading this will know that they will take care of your loved one and well as you and your family and friends.
Thank you!

Everyone we dealt with at Dalton‘s funeral parlor Floral Park was compassionate, helpful and just in general wonderful. The only thing I suggest is that you check the location listed for your loved one because Dalton has multiple locations and my mother was listed at the wrong location in the beginning. The error was quickly corrected however, someone sent flowers to the new Hyde Park location, and we were never made aware of that . However, even with this error, I highly recommend Dalton in floral Park.

Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home in Floral Park carried our family through a very painful moment in our lives with extraordinary compassion and care. Our funeral director, Erica Giglio, was a gift to our family. Her kindness, patience, empathy and gentle presence brought us a sense of calm when our hearts were broken. She listened to every concern, honored every request, and never made us feel rushed or overs. From the casket, flowers, easels for photo boards, tribute videos, mass cards, hot beverages, and a host of meaningful other details, she handled everything with thoughtfulness and love. Erica also prepared my mom herself, making her look exactly as we remembered her. She looked so beautiful and peaceful and every small detail we requested was completed impeccably. My mom had 11 children and coordinating a service that reflected her life and the love surrounding her could have felt impossible. Erica embraced our family with grace, treating us all and mom with dignity, respect, and true compassion. It was clear she not only cared about her job but about all of us. She was always present without ever hovering, gave us unlimited time, never rushed us, and also recited prayers to us during the service. Because of Erica and the incredible team at Thomas F. Dalton funeral home in Floral Park, we were able to grieve, support one another, and honor our mom. We are forever grateful for their kindness, comfort and professionalism they gave us during our darkest days. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

Stephanie made a very difficult time for me quite easy and manageable. There was no pressure, she was easy to work with, and always had time to answer any questions that arose. All of the employees at Daltons were extremely helpful and kind. The facility is very clean, and attractively decorated. They all worked with me to make the experience as smooth as possible.

When I call, will someone come right away?
If you request immediate assistance, yes. If the family wishes to spend a short time with the deceased to say good-bye, that’s perfectly acceptable. Your funeral director will come when your time is right.
Should I choose Burial or Cremation?
Burial in a casket is the most common method of disposing of remains in the United States, although entombment also occurs. Cremation is increasingly selected because it can be less expensive and allows for the memorial service to be held at a more convenient time in the future when relatives and friends can come together.
A funeral service followed by cremation need not be any different from a funeral service followed by a burial. Usually, cremated remains are placed in urn before being committed to a final resting place. The urn may be buried, placed in an indoor or outdoor mausoleum or columbarium, or interred in a special urn garden that many cemeteries provide for cremated remains. The remains may also be scattered, according to state law.
What is the purpose of embalming?
Embalming sanitizes and preserves the body. Embalming makes it possible to lengthen the time between death and the final disposition, allowing family members time to arrange and participate in the type of service most comforting to them.
Does a dead body have to be embalmed, according to law?
The Federal Trade Commission says, "Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial."
What services does a Funeral Director provide at Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home?
The Funeral Director handles body transportation, death certificate preparation, obituary submission, embalming and body preparation, funeral arrangements, coordination with clergy, police escort for funeral, flower arrangements, and grief assistance.
What steps should I take when a death occurs?
Contact the funeral home to coordinate with the cemetery, bring vital information such as birthplace and social security number, contact clergy, decide on funeral service details, notify family and friends, and gather obituary information. The funeral home assists throughout this process.
Is embalming legally required at Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home?
Embalming is not required by law except in certain cases. It may be necessary if you select arrangements with viewing. Otherwise, you can choose options like direct cremation or immediate burial without embalming.
