  My son started in the infant room at Bright Horizons Rockaway in 2018. Since day one we have had nothing but positive experiences and support from the staff. He just graduated the K-Prep (pre-K) class and although we are ready for the next chapter, we’re so sad to leave the BH family. The teachers all knew my son and his special interests. He’s always been excited to go to school, and never wanted to miss a day. The Director was easy to contact and was available for any of my questions or concerns, even ones that didn’t necessarily relate to school. The health and safety protocols at the center are always being updated to keep the kids and staff safe. They keep families in mind and are willing to work with your schedule and home situations. The reason I chose to send my son to BH was because of their facility. Although I hadn’t met the teachers yet, I was impressed with the different spaces that the children travel to throughout the day. My son is energetic and I couldn’t imagine him being cooped up in one room all day everyday. BH has individual classrooms for each age group with a bathroom for the children in each room. They have a break out room and a movement matters zone to host exercise on days when the weather prohibits them from getting outside. On days when the weather allows, there are two separate playgrounds for big and little kids. This was my son’s favorite part. They also have an art room, and a stem lab. The My Bright Day app and the Watch Me Grow camera access to classrooms helped me see what my son was up to in his earliest stages in life, when I felt guilty for working. Even as he got older, seeing him on the camera helped me feel at ease that he was having a great time and making memories. The My Bright Day app is constantly updated by the teachers to reflect the skills and activities each day. I was able to see pictures and descriptions of what he learned, what he ate, when he used the bathroom, and how he napped. This was especially helpful when he got to the age when I asked him what he did today and the responses were always “I don’t remember. Can I have a cookie?” I was able to sit down with him at dinner time and reflect on his day in more detail. It also helped me communicate with his teachers. That’s the reason we signed up. The reason that we’ve stayed so long is the amazing connections we’ve made. The center feels like a family where everybody knows everybody. My son has made life long friends with his classmates. They’ve learned about diversity and how to respect differences. Upon graduating, my son is leaving with amazing social emotional awareness, he is adding and subtracting, reading and identifying sight words, and most of all he has a deep love for learning. As a parent, I’ve never felt more comfortable leaving my son with a group of people so loving and caring towards him.
