About

Retirement Community
SearStone is a true community so full of energy and vitality, people want to eat here, play here, and yes, retire here. Residents have brought the whole community to life. They’re savoring the grilled salmon in the dining room and raising cocktail glasses in The White Horse Bar & Grille. The air is filled with splashing from the pool and delighted applause from The Grand Ballroom. We’ve created a close-knit community where everything is within walking distance or at most a golf-cart ride away. SearStone is an unbelievable opportunity that is waiting for you!

This senior living facility is not accessible to everyone. The substantial upfront deposit, high monthly rent, and additional care-related fees create a significant financial barrier to entry. Realistically, it may only be a viable option for individuals whose annual income previously exceeded $500,000; those below that threshold may need to explore more financially sustainable alternatives. While the physical environment is aesthetically pleasing, it tends to feel somewhat monotonous over time. For instance, the presence of an artificial lake might suggest opportunities for recreational engagement, yet fishing is prohibited—raising questions about how meaningful outdoor activities are facilitated for residents. In this context, amenities appear to be more decorative than functionally supportive of active aging. Moreover, the predominantly indoor lifestyle may contribute to a sense of confinement or psychological fatigue among residents. Without sufficient autonomy, stimulation, or access to engaging activities, such a highly controlled living environment risks prioritizing safety and order at the expense of emotional well-being and quality of life. From a broader perspective, the model reflects a growing tension in premium eldercare: the balance between risk management and resident agency. An environment that is overly restrictive—despite its comfort and security—may inadvertently undermine the very purpose of retirement living, which is to promote dignity, independence, and meaningful daily engagement in later life.
