Our family used to be deeply involved in this church community. For years, we attended regularly, actively supported the church, and faithfully gave 10% of our income. It was once a place where we found peace, friendship, and belonging, and our children were actively part of it as well. Unfortunately, after a very serious incident involving another family we had brought into the church, everything changed. In the church lobby, this person’s husband aggressively charged at my husband and swore at him. It was shocking and completely inappropriate. When we brought this situation to mutual friends and the pastor, we expected to be heard and supported. Instead, it felt like they immediately chose the other side without even listening to us. It also seemed like favoritism played a role, as this young woman is heavily used her time volunteering or may even be a paid staff member-- i am not entirely sure.. While my husband and I both work full-time and are not part of church management. Our concerns were dismissed, and our voices did not seem to matter. That was incredibly painful. We trusted this church, and in the end, we were the ones pushed out. As a result, my entire family no longer attends to any church now. This experience has had a lasting impact on us, especially our children I lost my faith in church. I cannot make myself to go to a church or any church now because of this trauma and betrayal. I hope the church leadership wakes up someday and remembers that the church is for God’s people, not for a group focused on management funded by our money.

This church allows a safe place for racism to live. I know because I served and went here for all of my childhood A deacons kid who was my best friend at the time, told me that slavery was a good thing —and justified it by sharecropping. We can no longer sit and allow churches to misrepresent the name of Jesus Christ! I may be saying something now, but Christ does have the last word. Whether you chose to listen or not.
