The food availability is a wonderful asset to our community. The person to person interaction however could use some improvement. While I understand this is a handout, some people who come for this are very apprehensive to take advantage of this program (myself included) because they don’t want to take resources from others who have absolutely nothing. When I called to schedule today (3/8) the person I initially spoke to was training and needed to transfer me to an employee (not volunteer). When I spoke to that person she treated me like I was less than. It was really humiliating. She kept ignoring me and repeatedly said the same thing over and over despite what I was telling her. This made me feel stupid and pushed around. I was asking her to let someone know that the person who was TRAINING did not understand the difference between “shopping” and a “pickup”, which matters to my family with food allergies. This is relevant and important feedback, not somebody rambling about their personal preferences, it’s a health risk! We also don’t want to receive food we can’t have and have it get wasted! I finally told her I was going to call back. It’s humiliating to be spoken to like that when people are already feeling small for needing to utilize a food pantry because they can’t feed their kids with the insane grocery prices. Humility needs to be on both sides of this program, as employees and volunteers alike need to understand that their “client” base are the needy and poor who have likely already been through a lot.

This place helps so many people that are in need, thank goodness it's still here. If your in a tough spot and can't afford food this place can help you out. Great place that could always use support from the community.
